Report: Sami Gemayel Suggests Opposition MPs to Pay Expenses of Hotel Stay
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةPhalange Party MP Sami Gemayel suggested that the March 14 opposition lawmakers pay the fees of their stay at a hotel near the parliament to attend the parliamentary subcommittee meetings aimed at discussing the new electoral draft law.
Informed sources told al-Joumhouria newspaper on Monday that Gemayel argues that the parliament lacks the required budget to cover the expenses of the opposition MPs' stay at the hotel.
“The Lebanese shouldn't carry yet another burden when they lack their simplest rights,” sources quoted Gemayel as saying.
He pointed out that “those who fear over their lives should pay the expenses, in particular, if they need around 10 days” to wrap up the meetings of the subcommittee.
The electoral subcommittee will convene on January 8 to discuss the electoral law during a one-week timeframe although Speaker Nabih Berri said he was willing to extend its meetings if the MPs were serious about reaching a deal.
After a boycott of dialogue sessions and parliamentary work in the past couple of months, March 14 lawmakers have accepted Berri's proposal of residing in a hotel near the parliament in downtown Beirut, as a safety precaution, to attend the meetings of the subcommittee.
The opposition alliance had announced following the assassination of Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau head Maj. Gen. Wissam al-Hasan on October 19 that it will be boycotting the national dialogue sessions and government-related parliamentary work, awaiting Prime Minister Najib Miqati's resignation.
What he is saying is right. He is taking responsibly as an MP of the people for the people and by the people. Our government has been stealing the money without shedding a light why. Did you know that our government has more than 55 Accounts in BDL? I would like to know why and what are they. Hope MP Gemayel will talk about it.
How many M14 MPs have been threatened recently? 2,4,6 ? And this is out of 60 in opposition?
How many of these threats are genuine? How many are not business enemies of these MPs? How many are false flag operations from M14 itself?
so remind us again genius how many M8 figures have been killed and compare it the number of M14 figures. And while you are at it, how do you know which ones are genuine and which ones are bogus?
@ samiam
Exactly what I am saying ... how many of these threats are real? how many are propaganda from M14? How many of these treats are foreign agents, including Mosad, trying to destabilize Lebanon?
As far as assassinations, who besides Geagea has already been convicted of four political assassinations? One doesn't have to look far to see how Geagea could become Lebanon's next president.
@ samiam
"We have a long, long, long list of martyrs to show that these threats are genuine."
Names and dates please ...
mckin1
Now M14 and M8 is sort of a recent event--it should be classified more and anti or critical of Syria vs prosyrians. The list is long of figures that were assassinated either by Syria or its proxies: Hariri, Teuni, Walid Eido, Antoine Ghannem, Wissam Eid, and this list doesn't go back that far.
Of course the real culprit is syria, but one shouldn't differentiate by it does or the agents that it employs to achieve its ends.
how may more m14 guy gotta get killed b4 ppl stop questioning if theyre realy under threat?
karim pay your electricity bill and the 30 yrs of bills you owe the treasury, plus all the damage you caused lebanon in 2006 as well as alll the economical damage you have been causing lebanon with hizballah, then come and speak.
bigohn ur right, but ppl here are tired of resistance. even the Palestinians are giving up their cause, what the hell r we still doing?? hizballah can make us a strong and proud country, its time for something to change. we can be the only arab country with the capability of defending against the israeli army! we have to integrate, not only hizballah, but the entire shia community into the lebanese state.
and mckinl one question since ur a know it all.. why did the assasinations stop after the doha accord for a while? who was at the doha accord? was israel there? or was it basho and hassoune... why hasnt one shiite been assasinated yet? dont you think if they wanted us to kill each other they would kill one from each side... and since your a genius why would israel kill its own since u claim m14 are israeli..
bigjohn, the israelis DEFINITELY prefer bashar over the muslim brotherhood.
and since they "prefer" M14 over M8 then how come M8 claims that israel is behind the killings?
Fire Berri, the one who came up with this Mafioso idea. He who can blow up Harriri's motorcade can definitely take down the Hotel. Also do they plan to cut all the roads in and out of the Hotel so that those members can arrive and leave when they are done. The solution is if our security system is not capable to reveal all these security incidents that targets top officials then we need to release them from top to bottom and replace them with more capable personnel along with the proper forensics equipment, We do need new laws if we have basic security problems.
Spend the money on the security of the nation to cut the snake head that is sending car bombs and ammunitions at which point you can think of a way to meet. Solve the mysteries of the car bombs that targets our top political figures. The enemy is still out there roaming the streets and not in Roumyeh planning their next target.
Here's a better idea. I think Hezb should provide security to all opposition members & pledge to be responsible if anything happens to them.
making the world believe m8 r bad guys doesnt create a civil war. isreal killing its own and weakening their power in lebanon is counterproductive, if anything they would be protecting them.
if some1 really wanted a war here they would blow up religious places, like what happened in iraq. its obvious that M8's enemies r under threat of assassinations. ppl like harriri, tweini, hasan, etc. r irreplaceable for M14, and only benefits M8.
whoever is committing these crimes, they r helping m8... it could b a coincidence i guess.
