General Security Denies Allegations over Banning Lebanese Film
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe General Security general directorate denied on Saturday claims by Lebanese-French director Christophe Karabache that his movie “Too Much Love Will Kill You” was banned from showing at movie theaters in Lebanon.
“The alleged claims are not true as no company has so far asked for a license to show the movie,” a communique issued by the General Security Department said.
The statement accused Karabache of publishing false claims for commercial purposes in an “attempt to achieve some fame at the expense of Lebanon and its public institutions.”
Karabache expressed surprise, in an interview with Skies Media website on Friday, over the alleged ban, saying the “General Security prohibited the movie for insulting the Lebanese state and for containing a radical view of society and degenerated and deviant ideas.”
“The movie, which was filmed in Lebanon in March 2012, is not a sexual movie... I assume that those monitoring the movie didn't like the ideas in it,” he pointed out.
The film will open at Parisian movie theaters on January 23.
