Hariri Lashes Out at Approval of Orthodox Law, Says Hizbullah Suffers 'Illegitimate Arms Epidemic'
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةAl-Mustaqbal movement leader former PM Saad Hariri condemned on Tuesday the approval of the Orthodox Gathering electoral draft-law, describing the step as a “black day in the history of the parliament.”
“Approving the Orthodox electoral draft-law in the joint parliamentary committees is a black day in the history of legislative work,” Hariri said on his twitter account.
The joint committees approved on Tuesday the controversial draft-law despite the withdrawal of the National Struggle Front bloc, the al-Mustaqbal bloc and independent March 14 opposition Christian MPs.
Moreover, Hariri replied to Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's comments last week, saying “Hizbullah is hit with an epidemic called the illegitimate arms.”
Hariri denounced in a speech last week marking the 8th anniversary of ex-PM Rafik Hariri the presence of all illegitimate arms in the country, mainly Hizbullah’s arsenal, and said such paramilitary weapons constitute the biggest threat to the country.
In return, Nasrallah lashed out at Hariri, accusing him of trying to strike a settlement to back him for the premiership.
“You proposed to neutralize the arms of the resistance if we agreed to support you as a premier,” Nasrallah said in a televised speech.
He pointed out that Hizbullah rejected the deal over “national interests.”
Hariri said that he will return to Lebanon to take part in the parliamentary elections.
Hariri is all but finished in Lebanese politics ... Will the Saudis back Saad when he has proven to be nothing but incompetent? Saad's return will be nothing but a wake ...
With his fortune dwindling and his "allies" in M14 turning their backs on him what is left for Saad other than a descent into political obscurity?
This is exactly the attitude that turned the tide against the Future Party and Saad Hariri.
@ brucelee
I try to limit my comments to the mujaheddin du cirque ...
He obviously stutters as well ...
That's right he's not longer representing the Sunnis , the only good thing about Saad is that he's aiming to increase the GDP and ensure long term safe investments and the only reason that's stopping this is the the HA weapon . unfortunately there will never be a common ground base for those two to get along .
I think it is time for Mr saad to readjust his hiring policies in his institutions domestic and abroad...
sunni community has to understand that saado and mustakbal are not fit for this period of time, most of the farsi successes in lebanon come from the weakness of hariri and co, time to have a new page away from "hakika" mania,TIME TO FILL THE VOID AND CONFRONT AT ANY COST.
I really don't care what law they use for voting. After all all our politicians are corrupt and come from families that are known. The major problem, As hariri said, is the arms in the hands of Huzbullah. These should be neutralized and the only arms shoudl be in the hands of the army. This is how countries are built and protected. Anyone who disagrees, is disillusioned and lacks logic.
I intensly dislike the ferzli law and it is not done yet. However, if the election is conducted according to it, then it strikes down one of the main pillar of hizballah arguments about the need for all main sects agreeing on major chamges. Hence the lebanese government may declare the hizb arm illegal. We will see then what the hizb and its ilks will do. What m14 needs to do is win the elections under any law and get rid of arms outside the state control and eliminate all militias. Otherwise, there is zero hope for the country.
He is still and by far the most popular leader among the sunni community. It is true that there are more competent leaders. However, that applies to all other sects and communities. At least, he lately articulated a clear vision of a democratic pluralistic lebanon. What do we get from the Hizb and Aoun? A province of iran, many sects and militias.
Let me correct this: lebanon hates bashar and despite my intense dislike for the type of regime that runs KSA, they bring money and investments to Lebanon. The assads raped and pillaged lebanon and their main export and investments in the country are weapons, assassins, bombs
"yo, change your sweater & shower pls!!" OMG....Nabatieh’s village idiot is truly going beyond himself with the great posts! Mustool FARSI aka fagblower.
black day in parliament ?
mr saadeldine , democracy means laws to be voted in parliament so if parliament is at work means democracy is working so its a white day for democracy
pllease saadeldine do not mix lebanon with saudieh where there is no parliament
and the black day was for lebanon when you hijacked christians votes
god bless lebanon and true lebanese
oua nabka
@al-kafi
We fault the FPM for outright hatred of Sunnis for no logical reason and the last thing one needs is for anyone to come across as a Shiite hater just because. We oppose HA's philosophy not because he is Shiite.
Now back to this law, one is justified feeling ambivalence about it since one can appreciate the corollary of the arguments against it vis sectarianism in Lebanon. That said, the law was properly proposed and submitted to the parliament and a vote was taken without any duress being applied to the voting MPs. It passed and that is how democracy works. One can still disagree with the result but at the same time respecting and abiding by the result is a must. It is high time we Lebanese learned to live with what we do not agree and plan to rectify it democratically in the future instead of wasting valuable time and efforts rejecting a legal and binding outcome. Democracy my friend is not what one person or faction believe but the outcome of stands by the majority.
See if Harari keeps his word then make some excuses and tell yourselves why he should matter at all, if you think he does.
Spoken like the lilfaglee (with that sophisticated foul mouth only known to come from HA peasants). Nabatieh’s village idiot! Mustool hable.....every post outdoes the prior one to only reflect an illiterate lilfaglee!
