Airport security succeeded on Thursday in thwarting smuggling attempts from Lebanon to Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

It first thwarted an attempt to smuggle 3,430,000 counterfeit Saudi Riyals to the kingdom.

The counterfeit bills were found hidden in a double-bottomed luggage of a Syrian national.

In the second attempt, security at the airport thwarted an attempt, by another Syrian national, to smuggle seven kilograms of narcotic pills to Qatar.

Investigations in the two operations have since been launched.
