A Syrian woman stole cash from her husband and escaped with armed men in the eastern Bekaa town of Majdel Anjar, the state-run National News Agency reported Monday.

NNA said that Ali Abdul Salam al-Kharsan, 21, claimed at al-Masnaa police station that following a dispute with his wife at his home in Majdal Anjar, the woman escaped with the gunmen.

The man said several Syrians riding a red Golf Volkswagen with tinted windows and without a license plate opened fire towards him from a pistol to allow his wife, Ghadran al-Mezyet, to escape with them.

Al-Kharsan claimed that he later discovered that she had stolen 2,000 dollars from him.

Reports had said on Sunday that the woman was kidnapped.
