Aoun Hints He Won't Nominate Miqati, Slams Jumblat as Mentally Unstable
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةFree Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun on Tuesday launched a vehement verbal attack on Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat and hinted that he will not renominate Najib Miqati for the premiership.
“Jumblat is mentally unstable and he is trying to punish us because we backed the Orthodox Gathering (electoral) law,” said Aoun during an interview on his movement's mouthpiece OTV.
“There is collective impotence in this state which is built upon a mafia-like structure and those who robbed and embezzled are fighting us now,” Aoun added.
“I tell Walid Jumblat, 'where would you go if I opened the case of the Ministry of the Displaced?'” Aoun went on to say.
Sharp differences have surfaced between Aoun and Jumblat over the energy and telecommunication portfolios in the next cabinet.
“The FPM will not be granted the energy and telecommunications portfolios... It's impossible and will not happen again,” As Safir newspaper quoted Jumblat as saying.
Aoun hit back during the TV interview, noting that “52 major global oil firms came to Lebanon and in three years we managed to pass the executive laws and decrees and we conducted the (oil and gas) survey.”
“I want to ask Walid Jumblat, 'what have you done since joining the cabinet in May 1984? What are your accomplishments?'” Aoun said.
He charged that Jumblat “does not want the proper representation and coexistence stipulated by the constitution.”
“When a sect appropriates the rights of another sect, how can there be coexistence? Coexistence can only be preserved through justice and equality,” Aoun stressed.
He noted that a parliamentary session to vote on the controversial Orthodox Gathering proposal -- under which each sect elects its own representatives -- “would be legitimate even if al-Mustaqbal (movement) and the PSP boycotted it.”
“If I filed a lawsuit against someone who stole my rights and he didn't show up, I cannot say that the trial is illegitimate. There are non-negotiable rights,” Aoun explained.
“If the Orthodox law was not approved, I would consider that we are living under a dictatorial authority and going through a phase of degeneration in state institutions. Those who abandon the Orthodox Gathering law will be cursed by history,” Aoun added.
Commenting on Miqati's resignation, Aoun said: “We have reached a point where laws have become totally disregarded by officials, including Miqati, who tried to manipulate the laws by seeking to extend (Internal Security Forces chief Ashraf) Rifi's term.”
“Several crimes happened during Rifi's tenure and none was solved, but legally speaking, the extension was an issue to be decided by the entire cabinet and there is no applicable law, which requires resorting to the Shura Council, not to the parliament,” Aoun added.
“When Miqati decided that Rifi is more important than the government, he toppled it, because there are severe situations that he didn't want to be held responsible for,” he said.
“I don't know why the president (Michel Suleiman) and the premier want to maintain the vacuum. I don't have contacts with them now and I was relieved by the government's resignation as it wasn't very satisfying,” Aoun added.
He stressed that legislation must serve the public interest, “not the interests of individuals, and the attempt to extend Rifi's term was a coup attempt.”
Aoun revealed that his bloc has not nominated anyone for the premiership until the moment.
“We have not nominated anyone for the premiership and there are conditions and counter-conditions. I demand fairness and each party must be represented according to its political weight,” he added.
“When you put numerous preconditions, that means that you don't want elections. We have not reached a common viewpoint with our allies concerning the candidate for the premiership and meetings will be held in the next 24 hours,” Aoun went on to say.
“I've heard that Miqati is putting conditions and I don't accept conditions, but rather principles upon which the government must be formed,” he stressed.
The FPM leader asked rhetorically: “How can we name Miqati again after he resigned over two demands and he now has five conditions to return to the premiership?”

This guy is a waste of time and oxygen! The good news of it all is that when he is angry, starts shouting, complaining, barking, nagging, crying, accusing, threatening and goes to hospital because of high blood pressure yu can rest assure that these are signs that the country is heading for a better tomorrow! And the opposite is true! If you see him happy, it's time to leave the country!
Tuesday again WTF....happy hour with the kuku general...me me me...only me counts...more for me me me..ya general dude stop taking these bad medications from Dahyeh and Hizbala...
"Impossible Acquittance" is nothing but a repackaging of Najah Wakim's 1998 Syrian prompted book "The Black Hands" to attack Rafic Hariri who Hafez Assad was at odd with. It's a book full of fabrications, inaccuracies, innuendos and all out lies. Even General prosecutor and Syrian tool Adnan Addoum could not make a case against Hariri based on Wakim's figures no matter how much he bent the facts. The astute observer has already spotted that "Impossible Acquittance" is not Aoun's first book of fabrications and lies his 2005 Orange book was a masterpiece of fiction. The only things missing from both books are a few more Photoshopped photos to accompany the text.
God bless General Aoun for his staunch patriotism, defense of Lebanon's democracy, and opposition to February 14-sponsored Wahabism.
May God protect Lebanon from the cult of Wahabism.
Aoun: When a sect appropriates the rights of another sect, how can there be coexistence? Coexistence can only be preserved through justice and equality.
Hey Aoun, theoretically you were once a 'general'--how about the influence of arms outside the control of the state, like you know who's. How would you feel about that if you were a real general and a real patriot?
At least he gave us half decent electricity, cheaper and faster Internet, and tenders for oil exploration.
They got my vote.
"I demand fairness and each party must be represented according to its political weight."
lol fairness? he didn t respect the outcome of the previous elections by throwing out the cabinet... and he is talking fairness? what a clown he is!
"where would you go if I opened the case of the Ministry of the Displaced?"
then DO IT! stop populists talks only good for your sheep! we are still waiting your trials you promised long ago!!!
"I was relieved by the government's resignation as it wasn't very satisfying. "
LOL he is criticizing the M8 gvt in which he took part... if that is not a sign of senility!!! LOL

Seriously, who believes this stuff--in the interest of full disclosure, I wish Aoun would disclose the meds that he is taking so that we can make an informed decision.
Aoun tells the bitter truth ...
"The entire system is corrupt and we unveiled the financial crimes ... "
Lebanon needs Aoun to clean house.
My Lunatic has a first name it's M-I-C-H-E-L
My Lunatic has a second name it's A-O-U-N
I love to watch him every week,
And if you ask me why I'll say 'Cause he's crazy
Michel Aoun is a special kind of L-U-N-A-T-I-C!
A7la General. Allah ye7mik from these salafi/wahabi Saudi extremists parading around as Lebanese.
Distructive was meant to post
"......from these rafidi/khawarij Irani extremists parading and hijacking and blackmailing Lebanon
THE DAYS OF OUR LEBANON. So, would there be an academy award style celebration for the Lebanese soap opera? May be an intervention might work. I can imagine all these idiots (with the exception of few) sitting together in closed doors, and nowhere to go except kill each other.
This is a case of the "pot calling the kettle black". Both Jumblatt and Aoun are crazier than a loon. Unfortunately, Lebanon is stuck with polititicians that belong more in "one flew over the cuckoos nest" than in government. But believe me for those of you that complain, it is a self inflicted wound.
only person who is mentally unstable is Aoun himself ,what a fool ,only way he will get back in goverment is thru a hisb coop.
I wanted to make a comment but decided there were sooooo many already and one more will not add anything. Ma khalayto chee la2hada :>)
look who's calling the kettle black ? you ought to know General how menrtally unstable should look and behave like .
In my opinion, we should sack all these politicians and nominate theses smart commentators for all the cabinet positions
Isn't it time we, Lebanese, conduct our own social revolution and decide to launch a new era of peace, stability and development?
Aren't you guys fed up to discover every morning that the situation is worse than it was the day before?
Wouldn't the country be better without portraits of long-term leaders, useless religious figures, criminals and extremists?
The English did it a long time ago. The French did it in 1789, every European country followed. I guess the Egyptian, Libyan, Yemeni and Syrian have much more guts than us...
“Jumblat is mentally unstable "
these are words of a responsible politician... all he knows are insults when he disagrees...but civlized talk? no way... 3aw 3aw 3awoun!
