Lebanese Man Found Dead at His Nigeria Home after Robbery Operation

Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour confirmed the death of a Lebanese citizen in Nigeria on Saturday, the state-run National News agency reported.

“Adel Jamil Bejjani was beaten to death by unidentified men during a robbery operation,” he told NNA.

Mansour noted: “Based on President Michel Suleiman's recommendation, we have contacted the Lebanese embassy in Nigeria's Abuja and we have been informed that Bejjani's body will be transferred to Lebanon on Monday.”

“The embassy will follow-up on the investigation with concerned Nigerian authorities.”

LBCI television had said earlier on Saturday that Bejjani was killed at his home in Nigeria during a heist operation.

The same source elaborated: “The 29 years old man worked in the domain of hotel management in the African country for less than a year.”

“He was planing on leaving Nigeria to reside permanently in Lebanon on May 5.”

Attacks on Lebanese citizens in Nigeria have been frequent in recent years.

On March 27, the NNA revealed that three Lebanese were kidnapped in Lagos, a rare case of expatriate kidnapping in Nigeria's commercial center.

Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) said the kidnappers have asked for ransom while the NNA did not report how the kidnapping occurred.

As if Lebanon was much better. They just don't make as much noise when people get killed or robbed here (or in most places actually) than they do when it is Nigeria related. But definitely a sad story

Why do we allow our citizens to live in that hole Nigeria .RIP my brother.

Missing beiruti99 28 April 2013, 15:20

Because lebanon has nothing to offer? Because they choose to live in nigeria rather than lebanon? Because most lebanese have chosen since 100 years ago that it is better to live in africa, south america, the arab world and the west.

I wonder if hizbocrap will send fighters to protect Lebanese in Nigeria...

We all feel bad for this poor young man killed in Nigeria. We feel for our Lebanese brother. Yet every time the smallest political discrepancy takes place. We immediately take sides and show nothing but hate towards one another. Because sadly most of us are more loyal to our hizb or religion.

Thumb benzona 28 April 2013, 15:20

REM advised us a long time ago to lose our religion.

I am a Nigerian and I know all the comments being passed by Lebanese citizens are untrue. The death of Mr. Adel is quite unfortunate but I know a generation of Lebanese who have been living in Nigeria since more than 150 years without any problem. I know of the noble Makkarin family; Tahir Fadllallah; Chagoury brothers; the Akkads; and thousands of them. But one striking characteristics of most Lebanese residing in Nigeria is that they are generally criminals, economic saboteurs, slave drivers, mindless profiteers and drug pushers. They have all the opportunity in Nigeria but they continually abuse it.

Beloved Adel, Rest In Peace
Elias Bejjani/In Christianity there is no death, but a transformation from death to life. Dear Adel today you have been transformed from death on earth to life in heaven. My your Soul, cousin rest in peace beside the saints, angels and the righteous where there is no pain, no anguish or any kind of suffering, BUT only happiness and eternal peace. May God give your bereaved parents, Jamil and Nouhad and the rest of your family and friends all holy graces of faith, patience and perseverance to cope with this great loss. From Canada, Our family members extend their deeply felt condolences to cousin Jamil and his wife Nouhad. In such events words become useless and the only means that makes sense is prayers and prayers. Let us all pray that Adel's Soul rest in peace.

May your soul RIP, Adel.
Crimes happen everywhere in the World and Nigeria is no exception, however, to simply focus on the low-level crime rate of Nigeria just to justify your inherent hatred of that country is trully sad. Yet you live there by choice to make money. For the record, the highest gun crime capital in Africa is not Nigeria. Gun crime rate in the US is far higher than in Nigeria.
Don't abuse the Nigerian hospitality towards your people out of your ignorance.

It is not proper that he should be robbed and killed. But i can tell u that Lebanse are more wicked than nigerians. They came here to make money and treat nigerians as animals. They maltreat nigerian workers using corrupt nigerian officials. They commit various offences and bribe nigerian officials. They came illigally, employ their people in managerial positions without valied papers and invade taxes. You cant do such things in their own country and get out of it.

Lebanese people are the biggest foreign cancer in Nigeria. I am surprised these stupid Nigerians waited this long to completely exterminate all Lebanese in the country. Criminals who go there to steal, exploit and work with corrupt politicians to launder money and rob the country blind.
I have never met a Lebanese in Nigeria who is a not a criminal.
