Charbel: ISF Wants to Disarm People, Not Distribute Weapons
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةInterior Minister Marwan Charbel denied that the Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau is randomly distributing arms among the people, An Nahar newspaper reported on Saturday.
“This will never happen under my tenure,” he stressed.
The newspaper quoted him as saying that the statements of Arab Democratic Party political relations official Rifaat Ali Eid are “only political stances and untrue.”
The minister was responding to statements Eid made to al-Manar television.
“The ISF aims to disarm people, not distribute weapons among them,” Charbel stated.
He told Voice of Lebanon radio that “harsh measures” will be taken to prevent the recurrence of what happened in Tripoli.
The minister added that the timing of the clashes soon after the formation of Prime Minister Najib Miqati’s government is alarming.
He said: “The Lebanese will witness an end to the situation in Tripoli. The army and security forces were directed to hit with an iron fist those targeting the peace.”
The minister emphasized that “civil peace is a red line.”
Charbel told al-Liwaa newspaper “Hopefully, we will reach desired results with the cooperation of ISF chief Ashraf Rifi who expressed readiness to collaborate with us, along with all other Interior Ministry employees, in order to ensure the rise of the state.”
The statement that "Riffi expressed readiness to collaborate" with the minister shows the limitations of the minister’s authority. What if Riffi did not want to collaborate? This seems to me an oddity.
the words told by Interior Minister has practical sence, matter what people with common sence wants, requires to live under standard of nornal life, so what people wait, is that they are applied to reality, only in this way, THE GORDIAN NUDE WILL BE CUT, if action to not stop the delivery of guns are not taken, Lebanon will write, day by day, one tale without end in each area, So given the word, the actions must walk besides them, let time to pass to see
Really ? am I reading it right ? if collecting arms truly what you mean and not a political stance, then do Lebanon a favor Mr. Charbel: Start collecting the rockets, explosives from Hizballah and the illegal palistinian camps. You will be doing Lebanon a huge favor, in fact someday there would be a statue of you planted somewhere !!!
Can Mr Charbel or the ISF question Michel Aoun, what did he mean by: He has given PM Saad Hariri 1 way ticket to Paris?
March 14 did not seem to take this matter very seriously as I saw no judicial, no police & no political reaction to this threatening statement?
