Another Syrian Air Raid Targets Arsal

Syrian helicopters fired rockets near Arsal, a Lebanese border area whose residents back the rebellion against President Bashar Assad, a security official said, in the latest incident raising new concerns of Syria-related escalation in Lebanon.

The late Friday raid was the second such Syrian strike against the Sunni-majority border areas in less than a week.

"Syrian helicopters fired rockets at the Wadi Hmeid area near (the town of ) Arsal. There were no casualties," the Lebanese official said.

The attack was the latest in a series related to the escalating war in Syria, in which Hizbullah has become fully engaged.

On Wednesday, a Syrian helicopter strafed Arsal, the majority of whose residents are Sunni and support the anti-Assad revolt in Syria.

The latest raid comes soon after the Syrian town of Qusayr was captured by the regime army and Hizbullah fighters from the rebels after nearly three-weeks of fierce fighting.

Ever since the Syrian revolt erupted in March 2011, Arsal has become a key conduit for refugees and wounded people fleeing strife-torn Syria.

Security officials say the town has also served as a passageway for fighters and arms flowing into Syria.

On Friday, the Lebanese army warned a plot was being hatched to embroil Lebanon in the Syrian war.

We can lodge a complaint with the UN, like we often do with Israeli air incursions.

Syria is doing the Lebanese Army a favor ... How many Army have been killed in Arsal? Arsal is importing its' own misery. Once they understand that their war is lost and stop aiding and abetting terrorists they will find some peace ...

Geha you Geza , stop insulting our LAF , they are and will always be our true guardian of our Cedar Homeland , they have limited resources & politicians ( M14's ) that represent people ( Dumbbells ) just like you . Luckily for us lebanese they're not the majority ! Like I said in my other post to you , if HA want to sacrifice themselves to keep the cannibals away well that is good , that leaves our Armed Forces focused on our beloved homeland you dead brain , you are an idiot if we had a choice between the Salafists / Wahibist or HA , I think the majority of lebanese would pick the later ... Go HA do your job & keep these Cannibals at bay while our LAF safeguard our Beloved Lebanon .

the only peoplle insulting our LAF is the people that shoot at them. Our patriotic hero Samer Hanna fell as a martyr to them. The killer is probably on vacation in Aleppo today.

Lebanon should be happy. Those scumbags have been killing more Lebanese soldiers than anyone else since the civil war.

No doubt we all love our army, but the truth is our army is all heart, and heart only goes so far in the days of the big technological advanced of modern warfare. The only reason our relatively small army is not better equipped, is because our self imposed governments of the past 40 years never wanted to have a strong and secure country, because it would put an end to their personal bank and their za3ama. How else can the same families still be self appointed MP's !??
