Israel Warns Lebanon against Getting Dragged into Syrian Unrest

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Israeli Chief of Staff Benny Gantz warned on Sunday Lebanon against getting dragged into the war in Syria, reported Yedioth Ahronoth.

He called on the Lebanese government against getting caught up in the civil war in the neighboring country.

The government had adopted a policy of disassociation from the conflict in Syria, but Hizbullah has in recent months become involved in the fighting bringing about widespread local and international condemnation.

Lebanese border areas have also come under shelling from Syria.

Syrian regime forces said that the attacks are part of its attempts to crackdown on rebels, while the rebels have fired at Hizbullah strongholds in retaliation to the party's intervention in the conflict.

The Syrian regime has told Lebanon to better control its porous border to prevent the smuggling of fighters and arms.

Without HA and the armed Palestinians in Lebanon who are messing with Israel, Israel has no history of attacking Lebanon except in response to provocation by the PLO and armed leftist groups (back in the 60s and 70s) and later on by HA.
So without HA and Arab groups (including Palestinians) who want to keep on fighting Israel from the South, we would have signed a peace treaty with Israel a long time ago. Syria forced the cancellation of such a treaty because they would rather keep our border an open arena while the Golan is quiet.

Heli, without HA's supervision the savages in the lawless camps would surface again I'd say.

Missing VINCENT 28 July 2013, 22:53

Loqaday Zangari. Elaborate to the events in the mid 1980s when the Iranian/Syrian backed pre-H.A. militia was on the verge of being defeated once and for all. Why did the Israeli troops withdraw from battle in the middle of the night? Uhh, political reasons?

Missing saidawiyyeh 30 July 2013, 04:24

Helicopter, you dont know what your talking about. Israel deliberatly bombed children, schools, roads and civilian areas and then they say they did it because of HA or Plo. Please!! They did it because they wanted to do it. Israel has been killing before hezballah or the plo existed. Why are you defending israel? Shame on you.

Again warnings because of the filthy militia that has besieged the civilized part of Lebanon.

Thumb scorpyonn 28 July 2013, 19:56

A filthy militia that allows itself to be controlled by those bastards in Iran.I hope the US obliterates Iran's centrifuges and rids us of them. They are a cancer that the world can do without and have got to stop meddling in Lebanese affairs. If the HA is so pro Iranian, they should all move to Iran along with their primitive Islamic ways and let us get on with our lives.

Thumb scorpyonn 28 July 2013, 19:56

Yes let's have a party and you can bow down to Iran and the rancid clerics that your HA allows itself to be controlled by. Shame on you for being such a traitor to your country. I will have a party with you anytime.

Exactly how many Israelis have been killed meddling in Syria ? 0
Exactly how many Lebanese (excuse me - Hizballah) have been killed meddling in Syria - 100's.
If you count accepting wounded Syrians, Men, Women and Children into Israeli hospitals for treatment as meddling, then I for one am pleased to see Israel meddling in Syria. They also do the same for hundreds of Palestinians and from other Arab states every year. May their blessed meddling continue.

After the "alleged" 2006 war with Israel, Israel announced that next time it forced to attack H.A. the entire Lebanon will be implicated and is fair game to cause mayhem to the country's infrastructures. Israel is nervous. Now that the military wing of H.A. alone is declared as the terrorist, the E.U. sent a strong and clear message to Israel to stay away from the rest of Lebanon.

Thumb Senescence 28 July 2013, 23:06

Interesting to see someone looking at things from a different perspective.

Missing VINCENT 29 July 2013, 02:01

Something is about to happen. We just got to make sure that Lebanon is not set back another five years while others prosper to our detriment.

Thumb Machia 28 July 2013, 23:07

Let's remember that Hezbollah's kidnappings in 2006 gave Israel the excuse to kill 1,500 Lebanese men, women and children. Moreover, they stopped the attacks on Shebaa, secured their northern border and pushed Hezbollah's weapons against its Lebanese critics.
Today Hezbollah's fighting in Syria is giving Israel the excuse to have the political and moral high ground, resulting in the EU labelling the military wing of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization and enemy number one in the Arab world.
Another mistake that has hit the Lebanese economy very hard.

Thumb Machia 28 July 2013, 23:07

It is time for the strategist within Hezbollah to change the rules of the game. Whether we like them or not, Hezbollah had many of its men die fighting to end the Israeli occupation and they have nothing to prove.
However, it is time to get the reward they deserve. But they will only get it if they embrace Lebanon and its institutions, proving its critics wrong.
A solution can be found. There must first be a ban on the use of its weapons outside of its resistance mandate. Then trust between M8 and M14 must be rebuilt for the sake of Lebanon.
There are no alternatives. We all live in the same country, speak the same Arabic dialect, eat the same food, intermarry, trade with one another, etc.
Reason must prevail.

Missing VINCENT 29 July 2013, 02:08

Lets be truthful and call it as it is. Initially, the "Resistance" was most likely and arguably real and necessary, but the "Resistance" was hijacked by Iran for Iran's and religious interests. One may also present the argument that from the beginning a noble "Resistance" was led to be created in order to give birth to present day Hezeb Allah and Iranian agenda from that initial success and the support it created amongst the people.

Thumb thepatriot 29 July 2013, 10:39

Vince, the resistance is a sectarian creation...this means that the religious ideology dictates the goal...not patriotism!

Missing hmorsel 29 July 2013, 02:24

lets all stop lying to our selves, stop. israel never wanted anything in lebanon. the arabs put the palestinians in lebanon and they started attacking israel from lebanon, not syria or jordan or egypt. israel threatned lebanon to secure the palestinians within our borders but we refused so they did what anyother country would do, go in a secure borders. HA took the israelies out after the latter realized that HA will keep the palestinians in check but they didnt count on iran to be in full control of HA. who now does irans work in lebanon. those are the facts, face them, stop denying them they're very simple.

Missing VINCENT 29 July 2013, 06:29

Well said and fair enough. But I don't know exactly what took place or what was the extent of Israel's agenda from the time they decided to invade Southern Lebanon until they left. One thing I am certain of is that even their own high ranking officers commending the troops in Lebanon did not believe in the cause they were assigned to and were convinced they had no good reason to occupy Southern Lebanon. Having said that I don't believe their agenda was "solely" to address the Palestinian issue within Lebanon. Additionally, the Shiites in Southern Lebanon were already deeply involved with and committed to Iran. Even an Israeli foot soldier could see. Unless of course Iran double crossed them. It may be simple but with many layers.

Missing saidawiyyeh 30 July 2013, 04:37

Hmorsel, israel never wanted anything from lebanon? Wow chou hal habal hayda?

Missing phillipo 29 July 2013, 07:38

Once the Lebanese realise that all Israel wants from Lebanon is quiet caused by the recognition of the international border established after the First World War, and nothing more, then perhaps Lebanon can free itself of its "Israel invading" complex, and go onto much more urgent matters, such as its economy, gas exploitation, etc etc.

Missing VINCENT 29 July 2013, 22:28

As long as Lebanon has Palestinians with weapons inside Lebanese camps, there is no such thing as Israel invading "complex". It is a "reality". Israel wants to secure its boarders just like any other country. No one can blame "Lebanon" herself for allowing the PLO to camp in Lebanon with weapons, since the people did not want it to happen nor the average Lebanese could have foreseen the consequences. You may blame some members of former Lebanese government, but I am not so quick to point fingers either since above and beyond Lebanon's humanitarian nature to allow Palestinian refugees to seek shelter in Lebanon (as they did for the Armenians and now Syrians), the rest, PLO and their arms, were shoved down our throats for even more sinister reasons. In the 1980s Arafat proclaimed himself as the President of Lebanon on French T.V.

Said philippo the cheerleader of israel, a state that got in to existence by massacring civilians, expelling others and stealing their land and life. Why did israel drop cluster bombs after the war ended in 2006? I cant believe how you try to portray the baby killers as good guys.. may God shame you and expose you and punish you for defence of israel. And keep dreaming of getting that recognition. We will never be your friends regardless of what happens. Haters of christ will end up in a trashcan at the end. Zionism is a dying project. Keep defending it, in the end you will realize your sin.
