Geagea on Baabda Attack: I Never Imagined President Could Be Targeted by Lebanese

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea condemned on Friday the Baabda rockets that were fired late on Thursday, lauding President Michel Suleiman's stances on Army Day.

He said in a statement: “I never once imagined that the president could be targeted by Lebanese powers.”

“Israel itself had never attacked the president even during its assaults against Lebanon,” he remarked.

He said that the target of the attack was “very clear”, explaining that they both landed near the presidential palace in Baabda.

Geagea therefore praised Suleiman's “clear national and constitutional” positions, condemning the media campaign against him.

“The reality demonstrates that some side no longer want a president or republic because they are content with their own 'republic',” he added.

Two rockets were fired in the Baabda area late on Thursday.

One landed in the garden of the Freiha villa that is located near the Officers' Club.

The second rocket landed near the Khashoqji castle in al-Yarzeh.

No one was injured in the incident.

The attack came on the same day that Suleiman gave a speech on the occasion of Army Day in which he criticized Hizbullah's involvement in the Syrian war in support of President Bashar Assad's forces.

Weren't you the one bombing Baabda in coordination with the Syrian jets along with your allies Abdel Hallim Khaddam and Ghazi Kanaan?

Thumb charbel 02 August 2013, 14:02

yes he did, now it's Hizballah turn to do it after the civil war is over, maybe to start another one

Thumb _mowaten_ 02 August 2013, 13:37

HAHAHAHAH this is huge, didn't he attack baabda during the civil war?

and how does he know the attackers were lebanese and not syrian "rebels" who repeatedly threatened and fired rockets on lebanon?
or maybe he has some inside info, and he knows the attackers because they are his men?

Thumb Chupachups 02 August 2013, 13:42

Yeah,"his men"...

Thumb _mowaten_ 02 August 2013, 13:50

who profits from the crime? who takes advantage of these rockets being fired? what could these ever achieve besides "blackening the face" of those who it would be pinned on?
who jumped on the occasion to play the blame game on his opponents? how convenient...

@the1, I doubt very much HA would resort to launching rockets at b3abda to send a message to the president. HA has demonstrated on more than one occasion that it is perfectly capable of asserting its will and that it is the sole decision maker in Lebanon, thus no need for such shenanigans. In my humble opinion, this is not their handy work and the timing is awfully suspicious. Deductive reasoning leads me to home in on the reasonable assumption that the group who benefits the most from this action is behind it and not likely HA.

If you know the area of Souk.... mowaten, then you know the probability of a non-Lebanese is remote or nill. HA presence in that area is very evident.

go and learn what salafi means before using words u dont seem to understand...

Missing helicopter 02 August 2013, 22:32

5.56,
I for one want to know, coulld you explain to me what a salafist stand for and how they practice that belief? Also it would be helpful to illustrate with some well known Salafists, because all the ones mentioned in the media exhibit intolerance of other beliefs, preach Sharia as the only way to govern, and advocate violence to reach their goals if they have to. Correct me by proving me wrong. Seriously I am open to the possibility of reconsidering my perception of them.

Thumb _mowaten_ 02 August 2013, 13:52

seeing the quality of their aim, that was probably their target

Hezbollah IS insecurity in Lebanon!

Thumb freedomarch 02 August 2013, 16:53

1- The truth is all parties put down their arms except Hizbullah< Amal and other syrian Assad parties!
2- The Truth is Lebanese are suffering on the hands of Hizbolah actions and not looking at the reactions of what they do day and night.
3- Using Israel as reason to keep doing the damage in Lebanon and syria will not work any more.
4- The President can not cover the actions of Hizbollah anymore. They went too far.
5- My own opinion: My heart cry when I see people driven by hate to one another. We are all equal under one just government and failing to disarm or deal with ALL(terrorist militias, and other armed groups while the rest are suffering from 1- Hizbola and it's affiliates and from some politicians that use the (Army, Internal Security, Parleman etc.... AS THEIR OWN!)

Impossiblle. HA is already united with the Syrian army of Bashar and with the Iranian Republican Guard, HA plays with the big guys.
