Tripoli police chief Brig. Gen. Bassam al-Ayyoubi on Thursday announced the launching of a crackdown on gunmen “who open fire in the air or attack citizens and their properties” in the restive northern city.

According to the National News Agency, Ayyoubi stressed that the Internal Security Forces, in cooperation with the army, will “strike with an iron fist.”

He pledged during a press conference that security forces “will enforce the applicable laws and shoot back at gunmen.”

Ayyoubi then escorted reporters on a tour of the positions of the Internal Security Forces in the city.

Earlier on Thursday, young men fired in the air in the Bab al-Tabbaneh neighborhood in celebration of the discharge from hospital of their relative, sparking panic among residents, NNA said.

Later, “the army brought reinforcements and staged patrols in Syria Street which separates the (rival) district of Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen, restoring normalcy after the tension caused by the celebratory gunfire.”

On both sides.

The problem is with both sides, my friend. Let us not take sides on this matter, shall we? One can argue that the problem is primarily with M8 (whose weapons are essentially legitimized by the force of... weapons), but essentially the problem lies with every side that carries weapons. Firearms belong with the government's institutions only, regardless of which party or parties control the government at any given time. Even the weapons in the Palestinian camps must be collected, as well as weapons with bodyguards, commercial security companies, etc.

Every skirmish in Tripoli begins with Salafists attacking Alawites. It is very well documented.

Yep m14 is the problem here lol southerner.. the unrest hasnt just popped out of thin air.. m8 started it brother. M14 is the less of two evils.. even if hezbollah is protecting lebanon from takfiri so they should, they started a war with them, so put up or shut up
