An attempt to smuggle a large quantity of Captagon pills was thwarted on Monday by authorities at the Beirut Port, state-run National News Agency reported.

“This afternoon, the Judicial Police's Central Anti-Drug Bureau foiled a bid to smuggle a large quantity of the Captagon narcotic pills, estimated to be in the millions, which were packed in a professional manner inside huge air-conditioning machines,” NNA said.

The narcotics were supposed to be smuggled via the Beirut Port to a Gulf state, the agency added, noting that several people were arrested in connection with the botched attempt.

On March 12, security forces seized more than one million Captagon pills in a valley in the Bekaa region, reportedly worth millions of U.S. dollars.

These were either made in lebanon or safely imported from abroad by one of our wise politicians, in either case thats were the real problem lies...

They should focus on what comes IN the country since that's what harms the lebanese and not on what goes out since that usually brings back money to the country...
