Carson Yeung, the part-owner of English Championship club Birmingham City, has been sentenced to six years in jail for money laundering.
Hong Kong District Court judge Douglas Yau handed down the sentence on Friday after Yeung was found guilty on Monday over the receipt of 721 million Hong Kong dollars ($93 million) using five bank accounts between January 2001 and December 2007.

Dozens of Muslim students from the disputed Indian territory of Kashmir were expelled from their university and briefly threatened with sedition charges because they cheered for the Pakistani cricket team during a televised match against arch rival India, police said Thursday, while the Indian state's elected leader called for leniency.
Akhilesh Yadav, chief minister of northern Uttar Pradesh state, said he told state officials that such a serious charge as sedition, which carries a possible life sentence, should be not be used because the students probably didn't understand the gravity of their actions.

Oil prices rose Friday as the Ukraine crisis took a new twist and expectations rose for a solid increase in U.S. employment.
Benchmark U.S. crude for April delivery was up 31 cents to $101.87 per barrel at 0720 GMT in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. On Thursday, the contract rose 11 cents to close at $101.56. Brent crude, used to set prices for international varieties of crude, was up 21 cents to $108.31 per barrel on the ICE exchange in London.
