Saudi Tells Egypt Delegation Relations 'Solid'

Saudi Arabia has assured a high ranking Egyptian delegation visiting the kingdom following Riyadh's closure of its Cairo embassy over protests that relations remain "solid", the SPA state news agency said.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal also told the delegation that Riyadh does not rule out that "foreign elements" could have plotted to cause the tension between the two Arab heavyweights, SPA reported late on Thursday.

Italian Police Intercept 79 Egyptian Immigrants in Sicily

Italian police said on Tuesday they had intercepted 79 immigrants from Egypt and arrested 15 presumed people smugglers near the southern Sicilian port of Trapani.

About 30 of the immigrants were travelling on a rubber dinghy and the others in a fishing vessel, a statement said.

Meshaal Says Palestinian Hunger Strike Case to Go to U.N.

Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal said on Sunday that the case of a mass hunger strike by Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails is to be submitted to the United Nations General Assembly.
