Jane Campion to Head Cannes Film Festival Jury

New Zealand filmmaker Jane Campion, the only woman to win the coveted Palme d'Or, will head the jury at this year's Cannes Film Festival, the organizers announced Tuesday.

'Frozen' Warms up North American Movie-Goers

Disney animated musical "Frozen" claimed top spot at the North American box office this weekend, deposing the latest installment of "The Hobbit" fantasy trilogy, estimates showed Sunday.

A loosely based retelling of a Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, "Frozen" added another $20.7 million in earnings, taking its seven-week haul in the United States and Canada to just under $298 million.

Movie Review: Walking with Dinosaurs (2013)

Everybody loves dinosaurs. Well, most people do at least. There’s something about them that can always bring out in the five-year-old in us, and “Walking with Dinosaurs” aims to do exactly that. While the movie is extremely thin on plot, its visual brilliance and educational components keep the proceedings light and fun. It certainly won’t blow adults away, but pretty visuals should keep them distracted while kids go crazy over all the dino action taking place.

Movie Review: La Vie d'Adèle (Blue is the Warmest Color) (2013)

“La Vie d’Adèle” (aka Blue is the Warmest Color) is a tricky film to discuss. On one hand, the film is a great coming-of-age story about a young woman coming to terms with her sexual orientation and desires, but it’s also quite self-indulgent, with numerous graphic sex scenes that end up being more distracting than anything else. It’s a shame, because there’s a great film somewhere in “La Vie d’Adèle”, but gratuitous and overlong scenes of intimate sex make this a fragmented – but very well acted – experience.

Saul Zaentz, Producer of Oscar Winners, Dies at 92 

Saul Zaentz, a music producer whose second career as a filmmaker brought him best-picture Academy Awards for "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," ''Amadeus" and "The English Patient," has died. He was 92.

Zaentz died Friday at his San Francisco apartment after suffering from Alzheimer's disease, PaulZaentz, the producer's nephew and longtime business partner told the Associated Press.
