Ken Loach Turns Down Italian Film Prize over Worker Rights

British director Ken Loach on Wednesday turned down a prize from a festival organised by Italy's National Museum of Cinema in Turin in protest over the rights of cleaners and security guards at the museum.

"It is with great regret that I am obliged to turn down the prize assigned to me by the Turin film festival," the internationally acclaimed filmmaker said in a letter to organizers that was sent by his Italian distributors, BIM Film.

One Direction's "Take Me Home" is the taking the boys to the top of the charts — and to new heights.

The group's sophomore album has sold 540,000 in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It's the year's third-highest debut behind Taylor Swift's "Red," which sold 1.2 million units its first week earlier this month, and Mumford & Sons' "Babel," which sold more than 600,000 albums in September in its debut week.

Tolkien Lawyers Sue Studio, Ahead of 'Hobbit' Release

Warner Bros declined to comment Tuesday on a lawsuit by the estate of author J.R.R Tolkien claiming that the film giant is abusing its right to merchandising linked to "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit."

Filed in Los Angeles weeks before the release of the first "Hobbit" movie, the lawsuit -- a copy of which was obtained by the Hollywood Reporter -- seeks at least $80 million in damages from the studio.

Inmate May be Involved in OJ Case

A documentary about an inmate on Florida's death row says the convicted killer might have been involved in the 1994 murder of O.J. Simpson's ex-wife and her friend, a case that was called "the trial of the century" in the U.S.

The Investigation Discovery show, "My Brother the Serial Killer," will air Wednesday. The film is a look at Glen Rogers, who was convicted by a Florida jury in 1997 for killing a woman. Rogers was also convicted of murder in California and is a suspect in homicides in several other states.
