U.N. Says no Complaint Received over Kashmir 'Beheading'

The United Nations on Wednesday urged India and Pakistan to ease new tensions over disputed Kashmir through dialogue and said no complaint has been made about a clash in which India alleged that one of its soldiers was beheaded.

The U.N. observer force in Kashmir is however investigating an incident in which Pakistan said one of its soldiers was killed, U.N. spokesman Martin Nesirky told reporters in New York.

Third Delhi Gang-Rape Suspect to Plead Not Guilty

A third suspect accused of fatally gang-raping a 23-year-old student in a moving bus in New Delhi last month will plead not guilty to all charges, his lawyer said on Wednesday.

Advocate M.L. Sharma said he would file the plea on behalf of Ram Singh, the driver of the bus where the attack allegedly took place which has fueled angry protests across India.

India, Pakistan Warn against Escalation over Border Killings

India delivered a dressing-down Wednesday to Islamabad's envoy to Delhi as it accused Pakistan's army of beheading one of two soldiers killed in Kashmir, but both sides warned against inflaming tensions.

India to Respond to 'Ghastly' Attack on Troops

India accused Pakistan of killing two of its soldiers in a "ghastly" attack Tuesday and mutilating one of the bodies along the tense disputed border between the nuclear-armed neighbors.

Indian Troops Kill Pakistani Soldier in Kashmir

A Pakistani soldier was killed and another wounded Sunday when Indian troops stormed a military post on the two countries' de facto border in Kashmir, the military said.

It said an exchange of fire was continuing after the Indian incursion across the Line of Control marking the frontier in the Haji Pir sector, 80 kilometers (49 miles) north of Islamabad.
