The majority of March 14 alliance MPs and lawmaker Walid Jumblat's National Struggle Front reached on Wednesday an agreement on a hybrid electoral draft-law despite the rejection of the Phalange party.
During a press conference that several of the coalition's MPs held in parliament, LF MP George Adwan said: “We reached a deal on the hybrid law that (Speaker Nabih) Berri had previously proposed.”

Caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel reiterated on Wednesday that the solution to the electoral crisis lies in adopting the 1960 law with some amendments to improve the representation of Christians.
In remarks to al-Liwaa newspaper, Charbel said that the law, which considers the qada an electoral district and is based on the winner-takes-all system, is still valid.

Head of the international tribunal's defense office Francois Roux reiterated calls for the Lebanese authorities to swiftly respond to the defense office's requests that are approved by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon's Pre-Trial Judge, Daniel Fransen.

Speaker Nabih Berri has proposed a hybrid electoral law in response to a last-minute deal between al-Mustaqbal bloc and the Lebanese Forces on a similar vote plan that sought to avert differences among the March 14 alliance's members.
Berri scrambled to hold a meeting of around 30 MPs from the March 8 coalition on Tuesday and late at night made his proposal after the announcement of a deal on a hybrid vote law between al-Mustaqbal and the LF.

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati stressed that he is considering his options if the parliament adopted the so-called Orthodox Gathering electoral draft-law, reiterating that he will not attend Wednesday's assembly session.
“I began consulting several law and constitution experts to study my options if it was adopted based on my commitment to the constitution and my jurisdictions,” Miqati said in comments published in As Safir newspaper on Wednesday.

Most regions in Lebanon plunged into darkness on Tuesday after Deir Amar power plants disconnected from the distribution network, Electricite du Liban announced in a released statement.
“The bad weather in the North disconnected the Deir Amar power plant from the grid at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, which led to a power outages across Lebanon,” it said.

Al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc on Tuesday urged Lebanon's MPs not to take part in Wednesday's parliament session that has the controversial Orthodox Gathering draft electoral law as a sole item on its agenda, noting that Hizbullah wants any new cabinet to legitimize the “wars” it is fighting outside Lebanon.
“Al-Mustaqbal bloc rejects and strongly condemns Speaker Nabih Berri's unilateral administration of parliament, which breaches all norms and bylaws, especially in terms of setting the agenda and administering parliamentary sessions,” the bloc said in a statement issued after its weekly meeting.
