The security forces on Tuesday seized more than one million Captagon pills in a valley in the Bekaa region, reportedly worth millions of U.S. dollars.
The Directorate General of Internal Security Forces issued a communique explaining that a police force raided the valley on Monday upon information received and investigated by the Bekaa anti-drug bureau.

French Ambassador to Lebanon Patrice Paoli on Tuesday announced that France does not interfere in the Lebanese debate over the electoral law, stressing the need for parliamentary elections to take place on time.
Following talks in Ain al-Tineh, Paoli quoted Speaker Nabih Berri as saying that “it is important to respect and advance the constitutional process and norms.”

U.S. Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Lawrence Silverman discussed on Tuesday with Army chief Gen. Jean Qahwaji bilateral ties and military aid to Lebanon.
The state-run National News Agency said discussions between Qahwaji and Silverman focused on bilateral relations between the U.S. and Lebanese armies, in addition to the U.S. program of military assistance to Lebanon.

Israeli President Shimon Peres appealed to the European Union on Tuesday to review its stance on Hizbullah to save Lebanon from its “madness,” saying the party is a terrorist organization and not a political movement.
“They collect missiles. They are trigger-happy. They hide missiles in peaceful towns and villages. By doing so, they turn them into a war target,” Peres said in a speech at the European Parliament.

At least 11 people were injured on Tuesday in renewed gunfights at the Ain el-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp near the southern city of Sidon, the National News Agency reported.
"Fighting has ended in Ain el-Hilweh and we're now investigating the circumstances of the incident," al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades commander Munir al-Maqdah told Radio Voice of Lebanon (100.5) later on Tuesday.

Students and their parents joined on Tuesday the Syndicate Coordination Committee in its endeavors by participating in its sit-in near the Ministry of Education in Beirut's UNESCO area.
The angry protesters held banners calling on the cabinet to refer the new wage scale for public employees to the parliament, accusing it of negligence and the Economic Committees of corruption.

Premier Najib Miqati said Tuesday that Lebanese leaders should refrain from expressing viewpoints that would draw criticism against the government and accusations of lack of credibility.
“The dangers surrounding us should prevent us from expressing personal viewpoints … that would allow some parties to have doubts in the government's credibility,” Miqati told a cabinet session held at the Grand Serail.

President Michel Suleiman headed on Tuesday to Africa on an 8-day tour at the head of a delegation, the state-run National News Agency reported.
The President will hold talks with senior African officials in Senegal, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Nigeria in addition to the Lebanese community in those countries.

A Lebanese man was lightly injured from Syrian gunfire in the northern border town of Arida, the state-run National News Agency reported on Tuesday.
Ahmed Ahmed suffered a light injury in his hand from the Syrian bullets that reached his town in Akkar district overnight, the agency said.

Prime Minister Najib Miqati will discuss with former premiers ways to take “personal measures” against Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani over a dispute on the Higher Islamic Council, a council member said Tuesday.
Mohammed Murad, who is close to al-Mustaqbal movement, told As Safir daily that Miqati stressed to an HIC delegation on Monday that Qabbani's call for the Council elections to take place on April 14 was illegal and inappropriate.
