Raad: Everything Happening around Us Won't Manage to Twist Resistance's Arm

Hizbullah on Sunday stressed that the events in neighboring Syria will not be able to “twist the hand of the Resistance.”

“Everything happening around us is aimed at besieging the camp of resistance and the forces of defiance to prevent them from being effective in the face of invaders who are dreaming of stealing our fortunes and dominating our countries,” MP Mohammed Raad, head of Hizbullah's Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc, said during a commemoration ceremony in the South.

Shooting Victims Buried in Lassa amid Heavy Gunfire, Killer Handed Over to ISF

Ghassan and Hadi Seifeddine, the victims of the Wata al-Joz incident, were laid to rest on Sunday in their hometown Lassa, in the presence of General Security chief Abbas Ibrahim, who represented President Michel Suleiman, a Hizbullah delegation and MPs Simon Abi Ramia, Abbas Hashem and Walid Khoury.

Mourners fired their guns heavily in the air during the funeral procession as Abi Ramia thanked the residents for their "wisdom" and stressed that "no one is above the law."

Israel VP Does not Rule out Strike if Syria's Chemical Arms Transferred to Hizbullah

Israeli Vice Prime Minister Silvan Shalom hinted on Sunday that any sign of Syrian chemical arms transfer to Hizbullah could trigger military strikes.

Shalom told Israel's Army Radio that should Hizbullah or rebels battling forces loyal to President Bashar Assad obtain chemical weapons, "it would dramatically change the capabilities of those organizations."

Al-Rahi Urges Support for Syrian Refugees but Slams Arming of Fighters

Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi called on Sunday for social and material support for refugees escaping the violence in Syria, snubbing Lebanese politicians who are paralyzing the country over the situation in the neighboring country.

In his sermon during mass in Bkirki, al-Rahi said the Lebanese should show humanitarian solidarity with the displaced and should raise prayers for the war and violence to stop.

Qortbawi Advises Parliamentary Action on Civil Marriage over Miqati's Rejection to Discuss it

Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi reiterated on Sunday his support for civil marriage, saying any lawmaker can propose a draft-law in parliament for discussion.

In an interview with Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3), Qortbawi said that if Prime Minister Najib “Miqati continued to reject putting the issue on the cabinet's agenda, then any MP can propose a draft-law so that it takes the path of legislation in parliament.”

The opposition March 14 alliance is set to announce whether its MPs will participate on Wednesday in the meeting of joint parliamentary committees to study electoral draft-laws after it criticized Speaker Nabih Berri for rushing to set the date, An Nahar daily reported.
