Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel stressed on Sunday that resistance movements in Lebanon have always sought Lebanese interests, “but it is not known what Hizbullah seeks to gain from fighting in Syria,” reported Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5).
He told the radio: “Hizbullah's salvation lies in its return to the Lebanon.”

Investigations are ongoing over the discovery of two 122mm Grad rockets in the Kesrouan region of Ballouneh on Friday, reported the daily An Nahar Sunday.
Informed sources told the Central News Agency that initial investigations determined that the only forces that possess such rockets in Lebanon are Hizbullah and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command.

President Michel Suleiman is expected to come under more criticism by the March 8 camp, at the Syrian regime's behest, over his memorandums objecting to the Syrian violations of Lebanese territories, reported the Kuwaiti daily al-Anba on Sunday.
Sources told the daily that the Syrian regime “has been angered” by the president's stances and it has tasked its allies in Lebanon to launch campaigns against him “ahead of obstructing his role as president during the last year of his mandate.”

Efforts to form a new government are set to kick off next week in light of the visit of caretaker Social Affairs Minister Wael Abou Faour to Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam, reported the daily An Nahar Sunday.
The meeting, held three days ago, are set to kick-start the government talks, it said while revealing the Speaker Nabih Berri had contacted President Michel Suleiman to that end.

Caretaker Transportation and Public Works Minister Ghazi al-Aridi stressed the need for the participation of all political powers in a new government, reported the daily An Nahar Sunday.
He told the daily: “A new government that does not include a major Lebanese political power will not be viable.”

An explosive was discovered at dawn on Sunday near the headquarters of the Arab Socialist Baath Party in the Bekaa, reported the National News Agency.
The army has since dismantled the bomb that was located in the town of Jlala, said Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3).

Countries supporting Syria's rebels demanded on Saturday that Iran and Hizbullah stop meddling in the country's civil war, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said.
"In the text that we have just released, we have demanded that Iran and Hizbullah end their intervention in the conflict," said Fabius, referring to their support for the regime of Bashar Assad.

Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour denied on Saturday that the Lebanese expats in the Gulf are subjected to a mass extradition campaign, calling on the media to report accurately the news.
He pointed out that Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awadh Asiri said that the Gulf Cooperation Council states will extradite any foreigner, whether Lebanese or from another nationality, if the person violates the immigration rules in the GCC countries.

More than 12 shells landed on Saturday on a border town in the northern Akkar district without causing any casualties, the state-run National News Agency reported.
NNA said the shelling on al-Dbabiyeh from the Syrian side of the border caused panic among the residents.

Premier-designate Tammam Salam reiterated on Saturday that he rejected giving veto power to any party, saying his priority was forming a government based on trust and good performance.
“The nature of the cabinet should take into consideration the nation's interest,” Salam said from Baabda Palace after meeting President Michel Suleiman.
