Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour denounced on Saturday Israeli violations of Lebanon's airspace, considering that they come in context of the continuous aggressive acts that violates the country's sovereignty.

“These violations will not change Israel's violent nature that we are used to,” Mansour said.

Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi urged officials to reach an agreement over a new parliamentary electoral law that would offer fair representation for all sides, reported the National News Agency Saturday.

He said during his ongoing trip to Brazil: “It is unacceptable that after four years of discussions that officials failed to agree on a vote law.”

The families of the pilgrims held in Syria's Aazaz area staged a sit-in near the Turkish Pegasus Airlines in Beirut on Saturday to protest the ongoing abduction of their loved ones, reported the National News Agency.

It said that the talks likely focused on the government formation process and efforts to reach an agreement over a new parliamentary electoral law.

An Israeli airstrike against Syria was targeting a shipment of advanced missiles bound for Hizbullah in Lebanon, Israeli officials confirmed Saturday.

It was the second Israeli strike this year against Syria and the latest salvo in its long-running effort to disrupt Hizbullah's quest to build an arsenal capable of defending against Israel's air force and spreading destruction inside the Jewish state.

President Michel Suleiman urged the international community on Friday to pressure Israel to stop violating Lebanese airspace, saying its activities breach the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.

Pope Francis called Friday for greater humanitarian aid for Syrian refugees in Lebanon and surrounding countries, after meeting with President Michel Suleiman at the Vatican.

"The huge number of Syrian refugees who have sought refuge in Lebanon and the neighboring countries gives rise to particular concern," the Vatican said following the talks.

A family of five was seriously wounded on Friday in a blaze that erupted at its residence in Beirut Haret Hreik neighborhood, the National News Agency said.

It said that Ali Adnan Matar and the rest of his family suffered severe burns in the incident.
