Syrian rebel commanders have confirmed insurgents had fired shells into Hermel towns on Saturday and Sunday, but denied there were any attacks on Monday.
"Yesterday (Sunday), Hizbullah bombarded Qusayr, Nahriyeh, Burhaniyeh and Saqarji (near the Lebanese border) from its positions in al-Qasr and Hawsh al-Sayyed Ali. They bombed civilians and killed many women and children," said Abu Oday, a commander of the rebel Independent Farouq Division.

Syria's air force pounded a rural area near the eastern border town of Arsal for the second time in 24 hours on Thursday, officials said.
"I can confirm there was a raid," said Ahmad Fliti, deputy head of Arsal council.

Two Hizbullah members fighting alongside Syrian government forces in the Qusayr area near the border with Lebanon were killed on Monday, a source close to the party said.
"Two members of Hizbullah who went to Syria to fight against armed groups in the Qusayr sector have been killed," the source said.

A French court on Thursday annulled a parole granted to Lebanese leftist militant Georges Abdallah, after postponing its final decision several times, al-Mayadeen television reported.
Meanwhile, LBCI said security forces closed the road outside the French embassy in Beirut in anticipation of a possible protest by Georges Abdallah's supporters.

Syrian warplanes pounded on Wednesday a house on the outskirts of the eastern border town of Arsal.
The house belongs to a member of al-Awad family, the state-run National News Agency reported.
