The Finance and Budget Parliamentary Committee held a session Monday to discuss the issue of the creation of an oil and gas sovereign fund.
“We discussed the report of the sovereign fund subcommittee and endorsed its content in terms of the commitment to the independence of its management and the transparency of its accounts and foreign investments,” Committee chief MP Ibrahim Kanaan said after the meeting.

Central Bank Third Vice Governor Salim Chahine has confirmed that there will be no “mass resignation” of the bank’s four vice governors.
In remarks to Annahar newspaper published Monday, Chahine also said that the vice governors will not accept to “keep using depositors’ funds to cover the expenses of the state and the Sayrafa platform.”

A Lebanese depositor broke into Mawarid bank in Antelias on Monday to demand his trapped savings.
Edgard Awwad stormed the bank with his thirteen years old son and left after he received his entire savings, a sum of $15000.

MP Qassem Hashem and a number of journalists suffered suffocation injuries after Israeli troops fired smoke grenades at them as they were touring the border near the occupied Shebaa Farms on Saturday, the National News Agency said.

As part of the ongoing dialogue, coordination and cooperation between Lebanese authorities and the U.N. represented in UNIFIL, the first meeting of the two parties’ joint action team was held Thursday at the Grand Serail, the Lebanese Foreign Ministry said.

Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran Bassil called Friday on Lebanese authorities to take diplomatic measures against a decision by the European parliament to keep Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
"It is Lebanon fault," Bassil said as he accused Lebanese officials of "negligence".

The British Embassy in Beirut said Friday that it has hosted a round-table for women economists and colleagues from the International Monetary Fund to discuss Lebanon’s 2023 Article IV Consultation report.
IMF’s Resident Representative in Lebanon, Frederico Lima, gave a summary of the last report which was issued few weeks ago. Open and honest discussions followed from the attendees highlighting the immense challenges facing Lebanon’s economy.

Hezbollah central council member Sheikh Nabil Qaouq on Thursday welcomed the resumption of dialogue between Hezbollah and the Free Patriotic Movement following months of tensions over the presidential file and the government’s work.
“This is an example of the unconditional dialogue we have always called for,” Qaouq said.
