Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling on Sunday targeted several southern Lebanese border areas, as Hezbollah announced a fresh attack on Israeli troops.

Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran Bassil has said that the the FPM’s 2006 memorandum of understanding with Hezbollah “has not collapsed” although it needs “improvement.”

“Its ideas remain valid but it needs improvement, something that has not happaned,” Bassil said during the FPM’s annual dinner.

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf has accused Hezbollah of putting Lebanon on a slippery slope.

"It is a place of great volatility and risk," Leaf said in an interview with Sky News Arabia, adding that Hezbollah and its leader are "taking a lot of risks" that could take the group and Lebanon itself into a "dangerous place."

The army’s Engineering Regiment on Friday dismantled the unexploded Israeli aircraft missile that fell three days ago between residential buildings at the entrance of the Keserwan district town of Hrajel, the National News Agency said.

The Israeli army bombed Friday several southern border towns while Hezbollah attacked several posts in northern Israel.

Hezbollah said it targeted the posts of al-Malkia and al-Marj and a group of soldiers near al-Raheb post.

Caretaker Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib on Friday met with French Ambassador to Lebanon Herve Magro and handed him Lebanon’s official response to the paper that has been recently submitted by Paris as part of its efforts to pacify the situation on the Lebanese-Israeli border.

Expressing Lebanon’s “deep appreciation for the French efforts,” Bou Habib said the Lebanese response describes the French initiative as “an important step to reach peace and security in south Lebanon.”

Former President Michel Aoun has informed Hezbollah that he does not support the group's point of view regarding involving Lebanon in Gaza's war.

"This is a losing battle," al-Akhbar newspaper quoted Aoun as saying, in a report published Friday.

Caretaker Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib has lashed out at caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, accusing him of “encroaching” on his role as foreign minister through “his repeated attempts to usurp the ministry’s powers.”

Former prime minister and al-Mustaqbal Movement leader Saad Hariri on Thursday marked the anniversary of the March 14, 2005 mass rally by describing it as “a revolution of a people and a story of independence.”

“It will remain in our conscience and minds and we will not forget,” Hariri added, in a post on the X platform.

The "Youth Political Participation in Elections" project, implemented by Rashad Center for Cultural Governance within Adyan Foundation and in partnership with the United Nations Development Program, celebrated the conclusion of its activities with an exceptional closing ceremony and exhibition on Wednesday at the Beirut Metropolitan Hotel in Sin El Fil.

Lebanese youths from all over Lebanon were invited to join a virtual journey through a social media campaign and competition supported by several regional influencers.
