'No Hope' of Survivors in Deadly Nepal Landslide

Rescuers on Sunday ruled out finding any more survivors of a landslide in northeast Nepal that is feared to have buried dozens of people under tons of mud and rocks.

Eight bodies have been pulled from the rubble after the landslide struck hamlets along a river in Sindhupalchok district before dawn on Saturday burying homes and leaving at least 100 people missing.

Former Nepalese crown prince Paras Shah has been arrested on drugs charges in Thailand for a second time and could face up to five years in prison, police said Wednesday.

Shah was detained with about 13 grams (0.5 ounces) of marijuana at a hotel in Bangkok, according to an officer at Thonglor police station who did not want to be named.

12 Killed in Nepal Landslides

Landslides triggered by heavy rains killed at least 12 people overnight in Nepal, including nine members of the same family who were buried alive when their home collapsed, eyewitnesses and police said Friday.

Residents of Gulmi district in the west of the country said that the nine family members, including four children, all died when part of a hillside came down on top of their home in a gorge.
