Austin Circuit Still Wants F1 Race

The Circuit of the Americas is still keen to host the U.S. Grand Prix, even if the debut of the Formula One race in Texas is moved back a year, officials said Thursday.

The remarks came in response to Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone's comments to the Press Association in Britain that the event was set to be called off even before its first scheduled edition in November of 2012.

Sepp Blatter said Friday he is "sorry' for offending anyone by his comments on racism in football but will not resign as FIFA president.

Blatter told the BBC in an interview in Zurich that he "deeply regretted" using "unfortunate words" earlier this week, when he said any racist abuse on the soccer field could be settled by a handshake at the end of the match.

Ecclestone: U.S. Grand Prix to Be Called off

The Formula One United States Grand Prix is set to be called off even before it has had its first edition the sport's supremo Bernie Ecclestone told the Press Association on Wednesday.

Ecclestone said there was no doubt that at the next meeting of the sport's governing body The FIA on December 7 the race due to be raced in Austin, Texas, in November next year would be pulled from the calendar.
