Nadal Cruises into Argentina Semis

Rafael Nadal, who is gunning for a record-tying 46th clay-court title, surged into the semi-finals of the Argentina Open on Friday with a 6-1, 6-1 rout of Federico Delbonis.

The world number four Nadal will face Carlos Berlocq for a berth in the final of the ATP Tour tournament. Nadal, who is playing in this event for the first time in 10 years, has won all three previous matches with Berlocq.

IOC: Sochi Olympics Made $53 mn Profit

The 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia's Sochi made an operating profit of more than $53 million, the International Olympic Committee disclosed Thursday.

IOC director of communications Mark Adams said last year's Sochi games raked in around 3.25 billion rubles ($53.1 million) in profit.

McLaren Boss Confident Alonso Will Be Fit for Season Opener

McLaren chief executive Ron Dennis has insisted that Fernando Alonso should be ready to race at the opening Grand Prix of the season in Australia despite spending three nights in hospital following a crash in testing last week.

The 33-year-old Spaniard was airlifted to hospital after crashing into a wall at the Circuit de Cataluyna in Barcelona on Sunday, where he stayed until being released on Wednesday afternoon.

WWII Bomb Found at Dortmund's Stadium

Borussia Dortmund's Westfalenstadion stadium was evacuated on Thursday after an unexploded WWII bomb was found during renovation work, the club announced.

The 250kg bomb (551 lbs) was found during morning work on the stadium's VIP area and the surrounding area was quickly evacuated with a scheduled press conference moved to the club's training ground.

Busquets Extends Barcelona Deal to 2019

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has extended his contract with the Catalan giants until 2019, the club confirmed on Thursday.

"FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Sergio Busquets for the renewal of his contract until June 30, 2019 with the option for another year," said a statement on the club's website.
