Fourth Victim Dies from Attack on Turkey Party Rally

The death toll from an attack on a rally of Turkey's pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party (HDP) rose to four on Saturday, when a 65-year-old died from his wounds, the Dogan news agency said.

The June 5 attack on an HDP pre-election rally in the southeastern city of Diyarbakir, caused by a bomb stuffed with ball bearings, came two days ahead of the June 7 legislative elections in which the party scored a major breakthrough.

Syria Rebels Push IS Further Back from Northern Supply Route

A Syrian rebel alliance has pushed Islamic State group jihadists further away from one of its key supply routes from neighboring Turkey, a monitoring group said Saturday. 

The Islamist rebels ousted IS from the village of Al-Bal, which it captured on Tuesday, threatening the Bab al-Salama border crossing, just 10 kilometers (six miles) away, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

A member of the al-Qaida-affiliated al-Nusra Front group was arrested in the northeastern border town of Arsal for having links to various bombings that have taken place in Lebanon in recent months, reported the National News Agency on Friday.

Ahmed al-Atrash, also known as Nisr Arsal, was arrested by the army intelligence.

Hizbullah, Syrian Army Press Offensive in Qalamoun

Hizbullah and the Syrian army continued their advances Friday on the outskirts of al-Qalamoun region, seizing control of several hilltops.

Qahwaji Outraged with Politicians' Behavior: Not Holding Onto Post

Army Commander General Jean Qahwaji expressed distress Friday over political tension in the country, saying it harms the institution, in particular the dispute over the appointment of high-ranking security and military officials.

Jumblat Seeks to Contain 'Incitement' after Killing of Druze in Syria

Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat has held an emergency meeting for his party's leadership to contain the repercussions of the killing of at least 20 members of Syria's Druze community, al-Mustaqbal daily reported on Friday.

During the meeting that took place on Thursday, Jumblat called for calm to limit attempts to instigate against strife after a press conference that was held by Tawhid movement leader ex-Minsiter Wiam Wahab.
