German chancellor urges faster progress toward ending Russia's war on Ukraine

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Sunday he and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky agree that Russia should be included in a future peace conference aimed at ending Russia's war against Ukraine. He called for stepped up efforts to solve the conflict.

A previous peace conference June 15-16 in Switzerland ended with 78 countries expressing support for Ukraine's "territorial integrity" but otherwise left the path forward unclear. Russia did not participate.

'Iranian missiles' in Russia a legitimate target, says Ukrainian official

A senior Ukrainian official said Monday Western partner countries must allow Ukraine to use weapons they have supplied to strike military warehouses inside Russia because of strong suspicions Iran has provided ballistic missiles for the Kremlin's war effort.

Man charged with plotting attack on NY Jewish center on Oct. 7 anniversary

A Pakistani man was arrested in Canada this week and accused of plotting a mass shooting at a Jewish center in Brooklyn on the one-year anniversary of the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas that sparked the latest conflict in the Middle East, federal authorities announced Friday.

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said Muhammad Shahzeb Khan had attempted to travel from Canada, where he lives, to New York City with the "stated goal of slaughtering, in the name of ISIS, as many Jewish people as possible."

Zelensky at military aid meet in Germany to rally Ukraine's allies
