No wonder... the rebels are mainly Saudi-sponsored fundamentalists and takfiris, who form the start have been betting on a sectarian war because Sunnis are the overwhelming majority in Syria.
They hoped that Sunnis would join them just because of their sect, and if this had happened, the 16 million Sunni Syrians would have taken the country in a matter of weeks.
Thankfully Syrians are not that short-sighed, and they know that despite being Sunni, the rebels are the lowest level of mercenaries and blood thirsty fanatics. Had they won they would have imposed a brutal obscurantist authoritarian regime which would have made Assads look like angels.
