"The people voted for moderation ... The people want to live better, to have dignity and to enjoy a stable life. They want to regain their deserved position among nations," Rowhani said................
Even though he may not mean it, I wish SHN would speak that way (instead of "We are coming" and "Haifa wa ma ba3da Haifa wehbe" .... with his hand gestures and pointing the finger)
starsky, you're obviously a parochial shill of sorts tethered by your puerile tendencies and conditioned hatred towards resolving issues properly and how they must be resolved. Khomeini cannot act on something (e.g. proposals of law and policy) if there were none, you see. Rowhani may circumvent the rejection of proposals by being a good politician, and Khomeini may stop being so pervasive if he sees that Rowhani's proposals are in the interest of Iran (while they may also be in the interest of other nations, as seems to be Rowhani's strategium regarding dialogue). So yeah, when things are inclined to change, encourage them instead of being a negative nancy.
I am not seeing it. I hope so, but a meaningful attempt for an honest change within Iran should invade our privacy and slap us on the face. I am not even seeing coming.
Al Rahi is a contrast to this new president, as is the new Pope, and so is (deposed) Haitian president Bertrande Aristide, which reminds me of (deposed) Egyptian president Morsi: all men (!) with religious affiliations which play a large role in their political life (does the pope have a political life?). Al Rahi stands out, in this group, for seeming unable to mesh the demands of religion and politics (just as Israel fails to be Jewish in its democracy or democratic in its Jewishness). I hope the new Iranian president can find reciprocal strength between his religion and politics. The essential idea, I suggest, is that "fear of God") (which is "the beginning of wisdom") has as its first principle the virtue of not condemning anybody because of arbitrary religious designations.
Rowhani,
If you could stop instructing lebanon's Hezb and all its thugs affiliates to bully the rest of the lebanese,
If you could stop treating lebanon and its people as merely a tool to achieve vague imperialistic goals
If you could quit using the palestinian cause as an excuse to wreak havoc all around the world
If you could use the great legacy of Darius and Cyrus to spread culture instead of undermining small democratic countries
Then you would deserve respect. Otherwize you are nothing but a force for evil.
