Brazil will Have 4G Phones by 2014

President Dilma Rousseff says Brazil will have access to high-speed internet via the latest generation of cell phones before the country hosts the 2014 World Cup.

Brazil's president says 4G cell phones will be available in time to watch the matches.

Rousseff authorized the national telecommunications company, Telebras, to invest $119 million to bring high-speed internet to underserved parts of the country. The government plan aims to make high-speed connections available for $21 a month, less than the average current cost of $42.

Rousseff also says she wants more than 70 percent of homes to have internet connections by 2014. About 27 percent of homes are currently wired for high-speed internet.

Rousseff spoke Monday during her weekly radio program.
