Medical sources said that Wassouf, 50, was in Damascus where he suffered from the stroke.

He was initially transferred to a Damascus hospital.

The sources refused to disclose more details on his medical condition.

His son, Wadih meanwhile told MTV that his father suffered from a brain hemorrhage, but his condition is stable.

Born in Kafroun in Syria in 1961, Wassouf's singing talent was discovered at a school performance.

He soon began staging performances in Syria and later in Lebanon, gaining fame throughout the Arab world.

I never liked him because he was always full of himself. Whether or not he will survive is up to Almighty God. What I didn't like in him was his last proclamation of support to the regime in Syria which was killing the people.

Brain homerrage is a serious thing and if he's lucky he could end up paralyzed.
