A number of Lebanese parliament members, actors, and beauty queens made promises which, if delivered, might be considered as wonders of the world.
In a TV commercial released on all Lebanese stations, these personalities made promises ranging from wearing an orange tie, to kissing a cow on the lips.
Former Miss Lebanon Martine Andraous promised the Lebanese to run in the coming parliamentary elections, but this promised will not be realized since a candidate should be over 25 years old in order to run.
MP Atef Majdalani who promised the Lebanese to wear an orange tie for 3 minutes, considered this a great sacrifice “which I will not do,” which means that MP Naamtallah Abi Nasr will not be able to tighten the tie as he promised he will do.
The MP said to An-Nahar Newspaper that “this issue is just to motivate people to vote for Jeita,” adding that “my promise in the ad is nothing but a national duty, and every Lebanese should vote for Jeita Grotto since it will remove the picture of war and assassinations from Lebanon and will give a vision of beauty, culture, and tourism.”
MP Ammar Houry found a way to deliver his promise of not attacking his political opponents for three hours “but in the middle of the night.”
Former Interior Minister Ziad Baroud who promised to organize the traffic jam that will occur in the vicinity of the Grotto will deliver according to him.
The Lebanese people, who are waiting to see how these promises will be delivered, are especially waiting to see actor Tony Abou Jaoude kissing a cow on the lips which he vowed that he would do so in a response to the Daily’s question.
Miss Lebanon 2011 Yara Khoury who promised to kiss every Lebanese citizen on the cheek will definitely not deliver her promise since it will not be possible to do so.
MP Simon Abi Ramya assured that he will truly participate in next year’s marathon adding that, “I will seriously try.”
FPM member Alain Aoun who said he will win MP Sethrida Geagea in the Marathon assured that his promise was spontaneous and for a noble cause.
As for Lebanese actor George Khabbaz who promised to act as a touristic guide in the Grotto said that he will do so for more than one day because “ Jeita Grotto deserves to win.”
