Khalil Beschir Edges Closer to Becoming First Arab F1 Driver
Khalil Beschir, a Lebanese A1 Grand Prix driver, has joined Gravity Sport Management, which is part of the Lotus Renault Formula One team’s program dedicated to the development of drivers.
He will join the management in 2012.
Beschir, 28, has spent three years in the Lebanese A1 Grand Prix team.
He started his racing career in karting at the age of 15 before moving to Europe in his early 20s to take part in Formula Renault, Formula 3, and Formula 3000 racing.
Currently working as a sports pundit for Abu Dhabi Sports channel, Beschir’s joining of Gravity Sport Management may be a precursor to him becoming a Formula One driver.
As part of his new role, he will be responsible for facilitating contact with Arab companies wishing to join the car racing world.
Commenting on joining Gravity Sports, he said: “I am very happy to have signed with them for 2012 because I am one of the first Arab drivers to join such a program.”
“I am proud to play a pioneering role in this field and to be part of the racing world,” he added.
“I look forward to spreading awareness about this exciting sport and go beyond that by earning a place as a formula one driver,” Beschir stated.
