The Syrian army recaptured on Friday the citadel of Palmyra from the Islamic State group, nearly a year after the jihadists overran the ancient city, state television said citing a military source.
"Our armed forces, in coordination with the popular defense forces, have taken control of the ancient Palmyra citadel after inflicting many losses in the ranks of the terrorist group Daesh," the report said, using another name for IS.
The jihadist group, whose takeover of Palmyra raised global concern, had taken over the citadel on May 23 last year and raised its notorious black and white flag over it.
The group has since blown up UNESCO-listed temples and looted relics that dated back thousands of years, and murdered the former antiquities chief in Palmyra, Khaled al-Assaad.
Built in the 13th century, the citadel is Palmyra's main Islamic-era monument.

thirteen, regardless of whom fought ISIS, you seem sad and disturbed by their defeat.

To mass murder ISIS, is a problem for you. Because you sympathize with those takfiri groups.
Thats the problem with Mostaqbal and March 14, we can never believe anything you say, because you do support terrorism, while you accuse us of being terrorists.

Not even a million died in Syria yet, so get your facts straight.

they served their purpose now lets get rid of them quick before people realize we made them.. they work for us

the only idiot is the one who does not do any reading about it and prefers to stay in his ignorance and rever his masters like a poor slave he is....

lol yes it seems so;)

but of course mowaten and flamethrower do not support Assad.

lol @liberty:)

Assad handed over Palmyra to ISIS and now gets it back to show the world he is better than them.
