Republican Presidential Candidate Gingrich: Palestinians are 'Invented' People
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةRepublican White House hopeful Newt Gingrich said in an interview out Friday that the Palestinians are an "invented" people and mocked President Barack Obama's effort to be a fair broker of Middle East peace.
"If I'm even-handed between a civilian democracy that obeys the rule of law and a group of terrorists that are firing missiles every day, that's not even-handed, that's favoring the terrorists," said Gingrich.
The former House speaker, who has surged in public opinion polls to grab frontrunner status, also charged that the Palestinian Authority shares the militant Islamist Hamas movement's "enormous desire to destroy Israel."
Gingrich's attack on the Palestinian Authority, which formally recognizes Israel's right to exist, came in an interview with The Jewish Channel.
Obama and his aides "lie to themselves" about the Middle East conflict and are "out of touch with reality," he said.
Asked whether he was a Zionist, Gingrich replied that "the Jewish people have the right to a state" and cast doubt on the legitimacy of Palestinian aspirations for a state of their own.
"We've had an invented Palestinian people, who are in fact Arabs, and were historically part of the Arab community. And they had a chance to go many places. And for a variety of political reasons we have sustained this war against Israel now since the 1940's, and I think it's tragic," he said.
That remarks drew a swift rebuke from a spokesman for the American Task Force on Palestine, Hussein Ibish, who said "there was no Israel and no such thing as an 'Israeli people' before 1948."
"So the idea that Palestinians are 'an invented people' while Israelis somehow are not is historically indefensible and inaccurate. Such statements seem to merely reflect deep historical ignorance and an irrational hostility towards Palestinian identity and nationalism," he said.
Gingrich also declared his world view was "pretty close" to that of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and vowed to take "a much more tougher-minded, and much more honest approach to the Middle East" if elected.
And he said that it was "delusional" to consider stalled Israeli-Palestinian talks a true peace process.
Newt Gingrich past history and lack of credibility when he was the speaker of the House of representatives fumes nothing but deceptions, lies and hypocrisy . This guy's ugly record will never be forgotten. What a shame that he still has the guts to seek the nomination
He is saying this nonsense to get money from Right wing Jews. The fact is that the the 2 state solution is dead and Christian and Muslim Arabs (or the invented people as he calls them) will become a majority in ALL of historic Palestine. Expelling the Palestinians so they can become a minority is no longer allowed (like it was in 1948). What these right wing idiots want Israel to grab a large part of the West Bank and for Jordan to get the rest and Egypt to get Gaza. The Arabs and the world will never support this. Israel will finally be referred to as an Apartheid state and will be totally isolated even by the US. The Arab majority (or the invented people) will determine what the state will be called just like the people of Rhodesia did when they renamed it Zimbabwe. Israel's years are numbered and US years as an Empire are also numbered.
Truly.
I was in Iraq for nine months in 2004, seeing Iraqis socially almost severy day, and they were much more sane than we US soldiers.
If you experienced the Israel lobby in the US in person, by being here, you would see Gingrich as "the identified patient" in a sick system. His only problem is that his version of the Zionist lie is about three years out of date. It is an embarrassment to the current version of the lie, about the two-state solution and Iran just trying to make trouble: meaning "the West" should attack Iran and create a war so that Israel can kill all the Palestinians and eliminate the need for a Palestinian bantustan with its own prison guards--oh, that's what we have now. The two-state solution offers nothing new.
"much more honest approach to the Middle East" if elected"
understand = much more pro israeli !
the day they will implement the UN resolutions that israel never followed then maybe there will be a beginning of a solution...
Lol at Hussein Ibish's replies, he is usually level headed and calm. I still respect him though, and will of course support out Palestinian brothers in their struggle. When all Arabs unite against our tyrants, we will restore our former glory.
yes Gingrish i agree with you, send them to Jordan where they should have their country
Palestinians were invented by the bible (philistines), they have been in palestine for thousands of years. Their history starts with the cananites. Remind us again gingrich how long your roots have been in america? The US is sadly occupied by Aipac (ie israel) so that is why we have to listen to such ignorance and lies.
you know what's embarrasing. It's embarassing when all our so called Arab leaders with not exceptions, I mean all Arab countries just be quiet to this kind of talk and do not reply back. What a shame. I don't support any party but only Hizbollah replied back or condemed such talk. any true Arabic leader be it KSA, or the entire GCC, Syria, Jordan, etc should say something. But they are all puppets to the US / Israeli plan.
