Paris Urges Israel to Use 'Proportionate' Force against Palestinians
France wants Israeli leaders to show a "proportionate use of force" in response to rockets fired by the Hamas Islamist movement following several nights of violence at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, a government official said Tuesday.
"Quite clearly, we call for a proportionate use of force by the Israeli authorities," deputy foreign minister Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne told lawmakers in the French parliament.

France needs to be clearer to Israel in its message and say what it regards as "proportionate use of force" to stop rocket attacks against civilians. Without such specific guidance, France's words are meaningless.

good point! but as a European, after the WW2, as guilt feeling, WE supported the creation of Israel, but now ,we the young generation have guilt feeling towards the Palestinians....

Proportionate means an eye for an eye, it’s a Talmudic concept…. Which translates into 1 destruction or 1 life for another max, not a 20/1 ratio.

In your eyes "to stop rocket attacks against civilians" is one way.
Surely it is civilians who are living in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Rehovot, Holon and all the other settlements north of Gaza. It is Israeli civilians who have been killed and wounded, not a single soldier.
So, I completely agree with the French demand "to stop rocket attacks against civilians"

As if israel is the victim here. If you support proportionate force then you must agree to have the same amount of "israelis" killed, maimed and injured as what they do and have done to the Palestinians. Why only talk about proportionate force when it comes to "israels right to defend itself"? Israel killed Palestinian kids playing soccer yesterday. There is nothing proportionate about what is going on. Only hypocrites think its justified for israel to use force against the people whos land and life they have stolen.
