At least 8 hurt, man arrested after stabbings in northwest England
At least eight people, some of them children, were injured in stabbings in northwest England on Monday, emergency services said. Police said they had detained a man and seized a knife.
Merseyside Police said officers were called at about noon to an address in Southport, near Liverpool. It noted a "major incident" but said there was no wider threat to the public. It asked people to avoid the area. Photos showed several police cars, ambulances and a fire engine behind cordon tape on a residential street.
The North West Ambulance Service said said medics treated eight people with stab injures. The injured were taken to local hospitals.

It now appears certain (to me) that he was indeed born in Cardiff, Wales. So if he is of Jordanian Palestinian extraction, and if indeed this is his name (English law prohibits publishing names of juvenile crime suspects), then the question of the relevancy of his background intensifies. Three of the children have now died.

by Naharnet Newsdesk 2 days ago. How is the apparent motivation different for that set of murders than this set of murders? In each case the murderer seems to have been "making a statement" so that that the lives involved didn't matter.
