Finance Minister Yassine Jaber on Wednesday thanked Speaker Nabih Berri for backing his nomination to the post and President Joseph Aoun and PM Nawaf Salam for their “confidence.”
“The country is in a very difficult situation and numerous missions are ahead of us,” Jaber said during a handover ceremony at the ministry.
Calling for “cooperation to fulfill the missions,” Jaber said the new government will follow “the path of reform.”
Addressing Arab countries, the minister added: “Lebanon has begun the comeback journey to become a state of law and we ask for the support of Arab countries in this difficult period.”
He also addressed the international community by saying that the government “will be committed to carrying out the necessary economic and financial reforms so that Lebanon can regain local and international confidence.”
