U.S. oil prices dropped sharply Friday as G7 leaders held urgent talks to coordinate action on lowering fuel prices, after the EU said earlier it would work with the International Energy Agency on releasing further stocks to global markets.

West Texas Intermediate was down 4.0 percent at $89.15 a barrel, having fallen as far as five percent, while the international benchmark Brent crude was down 2.6 percent at $99.63 after several days of trading above the psychological threshold of $100 a barrel.

Brent down to $101.4 at 2:30 PM GMT. US ten-year-bond yield up to 5.30%, some sort of historic high. Google: Yes, the US 10-year Treasury yield is currently trading at roughly 5.30%, marking its highest level in over 24 years. While this is a multi-decade milestone, it is not an all-time historic high; the absolute record for the 10-year Treasury yield was 15.84% reached in 1981. However, the current climb to 5.30% represents a monumental shift for modern markets, driven by a combination of macroeconomic headwinds.
