Britain's Prince William and wife Catherine walked the red carpet Wednesday at the premiere of a film on African wildlife in their first official engagement since his return from the Falklands.

They were guests of honor at the London screening of Disney's African Cats, which tells the story of a pride of lions and a family of cheetahs. The premiere is raising money for British-based conservation charity Tusk Trust.

Catherine, whose official title is Duchess of Cambridge, appeared in a dove-grey dress with jade detailing which online royal watchers quickly identified as a work of Welsh designer Matthew Williamson.

The couple will mark their first wedding anniversary on Sunday and celebrate it "privately", a spokeswoman said.

Their wedding drew global television audiences of two billion.

William was deployed to the Falklands for six weeks in February and March on a tour of duty as a search and rescue pilot, enraging Argentina, which condemned the prince's tour as a "provocation".

Britain has held the Falklands since 1833 but Buenos Aires claims they are occupied Argentinian territory.
