Syndicate Coordination Committee to Escalate Action Next Week
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe Syndicate Coordination Committee will escalate its action next week through sit-ins in front of ministries on Tuesday and another greater demonstration on Wednesday, reported As Safir newspaper on Saturday.
It said that the committee decided to hold a strike on Tuesday at all ministries and public administrations in Beirut and various other regions, in addition to the sit-ins at the ministries.
The committee is protesting the government’s failure to approve the new wage scale.
The Wednesday demonstration will kick off from Beirut’s Barbir region and head to the Grand Serail in downtown Beirut.
The Syndicate Coordination Committee had staged a sit-in near several public institutions on Tuesday in an attempt to pressure the cabinet to approve the new wage scale.
It lashed out at Prime Minister Najib Miqati as it insisted that he meet their demands before they resume the correction of the official exams.
The committee recently boycotted the correction of official exams over the government’s failure to include the new wage scale in the state budget.
The public sector employees protested at several ministries and public institutions including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Environment and the Telecommunications Ministry.
The premier told As Safir newspaper published on Monday that the cabinet will refer the wages scale related to the teachers independently if the parliament delayed the approval of the salaries for the public sector.
