Placebo, Headlining Music Festival, Performs One Song
British alternative rock bank Placebo left fans severely short-changed after performing just one song at a summer music festival in Austria that they were headlining before leaving the stage.
Bassist Stefan Olsdal briefly returned in tears at the Frequency Festival at Sankt Poelten near Vienna on Thursday night to apologize and to announce that singer Brian Molko "is not well and cannot play the show."
"Yes, it's shit and really shit for us too," the Swede said in German.
The band later released a statement saying Molko had a virus and that "the adrenaline rush from the crowd as they walked on stage disorientated him and he felt unable to continue."
Other performers of the four-day festival, which runs until Saturday, include The Killers, The Cure, Korn and former Oasis singer-songwriter Noel Gallagher's new band High Flying Birds.
