Iran: Israel Will 'Regret Aggression against Syria'
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةIsrael will regret its latest "aggression against Syria", Iran's security chief Saeed Jalili told reporters during a visit to Damascus on Monday.
"Just like it regretted all its wars... the Zionist entity will regret its aggression against Syria," Jalili, head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said a day after Israel implicitly confirmed it staged an air strike near Damascus last week.
"The Syrian people and government are serious about this, and the Muslim world supports Syria," Jalili said.
"Syria is at the forefront of the Muslim world's confrontation with the Zionist entity," he added, in reference to Israel.
In Munich on Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak implicitly confirmed that the Jewish state had staged an air strike on Syria, following reports of an air raid which Damascus said targeted a military complex near the capital.
Barak told the Munich Security Conference that the strike was "another proof that when we say something we mean it."
Wednesday's air strike targeted surface-to-air missiles and an adjacent military complex believed to house chemical agents, according to a U.S. official.
Tehran has provided Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime with unequivocal support throughout the country's 22-month conflict, which the U.N. says has left more than 60,000 people dead.
Analysts have warned of the potential regional spillover of the conflict, which has divided the international community into two camps.
One Russia-led camp has backed Assad, the other, led by the United States, has supported the revolt.
"Syria is the forefront of the Muslim world's confrontation with the Zionist entity" ... and the last time a shot was fired from Syria to Israel was ... when???
These are baseless talks a la libanaise. The Golan was lost in 1967 and Syrian tried to reconquer during Yom Kipour war but actually lost more territory. In July 1967 the Knesset voted to give back the Golan to Syria against a peace agreement. The Arabs refused.
he will be surprised to realize one day that no one supports this Syrian regime nor the devils backing them up.
Sure they will regret it, this is a good opportunity to test your super duper F313 fighter jet, walla bass kalem bil hawa?
" Confronting Israel" a pass still used by dictators to repress and commit atrocities against their peoples.
He meant they will regret it, because Bashar was their best friend. Now when the extremists finish their handy work in Syria, they will go to Lebanon, then where do you go from there.
of course iran will try to answer by using somebody else, like the lebanese shia of lebanon, and from lebanese territory, but will hassan accept or even can now?
Israel regretted all its wars? Ha? They conquer at will.... Golan heights, Sinai peninsula, west bank, south Lebanon... Unlike Arabs that lose war after war.
Yes psycho. If they wanted to, Israel would stretch from its current borders to turkey. Of course with western and Russian help ( yes yes, Bashar's strategic ally). Is it the israeli's fault for succeeding where we are failing? Beleive me when I say they are sparing us... We should be grateful.
You know, if the Iraqis would just shut off their airspace to Iranian and Russian planes, then this protracted seige would end quickly. Too bad the Iraqi don't have the cajones to do it...
LOL FT... so i guess all the promises made by your beloved nassy are just lies when he promised missiles ba3ad haifa!! we are still waiting!
your beloved baathist regime is just good to use its army against its own people but not against the true enemy...
you are your likes just bark loud to be "resistants" but behind the words is just populist talk!
"but at the price of thousands of israeli dead and billions of infrastructure..."
LOL still funny as usual FT the sissy boy! what harm did hezbis inflict to israel compared to what israel did in lebanon? minor damages... we are still waiting for the missiles promised over haifa....lol
billions of infrastrucutre? LOL reread your stupidities before posting, you ll look less ridiculous...
same thing goes to your hezbis friends! take the iranian and syrian financial aid off and let s see if they can still play tough and oblige shia to back them!
The_roar. Iran is one of the biggest reasons Lebanon can't progress. However, one has to wholeheartedly take responsibilitie for their own actions. If it isn't for Lebanese allowing all these countries to control them like little puppets (both sides of the government) than countries like Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia would not be able to hold us back and keep us in the 14th century. Please do keep in mind that many Lebanese would love move in the right direction but are being held back by a few with a lot more power!
or maybe not; what about the douzens of foiled attacks done by iran and hizbullah against us and israeli interest. what about the terrorist attack in bulgaria airport against jewish travellers. those threats could mean new attacks to come.
The existence of Israel allows the Syrian regime to spend most of the country GDP on arms, to keep the state of emergency since more than 40 years and to rule despotically the Syrian people. Israel is a very helpful enemy that help divert people anger against the tyrant. Iran is doing the same. Had there be no Israel, how will the Tyranical regime justify their actions. Now the bad new is that HA is using the same tactic. They point Israel as the bad agressor so they can keep their weapons and increase their dominance in Lebanon. Thank you mr Aoun for covering the HA. Lebanon and the Christians are paying a dear price for this.
Are you talking about yom kippour? than pls go back to your history books. Ariel Sharon (who is the coma right now) almost walked into Cairo taking "en tenaille" the Egyptian army (That is why people in Israel call him King Arik).
The IDF counteroffensive completely encircled the Egyptian army and the city of Suez and stopped at 100 km from Cairo.
The counter offensive in the Golan pushed the IDF deep into Syrian territory. The IDF stopped at 40km from Damascus.
Greatpeiro ur a Zionist. Nothing u say will ever make Israel sound like the good guy.
Hizballah deserves their respect. They did what no Arab army/malitia has ever done, no1 can deny that... But it's time to put it to rest and build a state.
I believe they were, at least, involved in assassinations of Lebanese politicians. It's time for a peaceful and dignified integration in the army before its too late.
