Nehna wel Amar wel Jiran is a free, outdoor cultural event for the entire family.
Organized by Collectif Kahraba, the third annual edition of the festival will take place on the Vendômes staircase on September 6, 7 and 8 of 2013, and will feature theater performances, puppetry, contemporary dance and concerts, a press release said on Tuesday.
Over 2000 spectators climb-up the stairs every year to participate. Audiences of different generations from across Beirut meet and mix in the metamorphosing area in an attempt to reclaim public space, the release added.
This year the collaboration with the neighbors is at its strongest, not only with regards to organizations and public reception, but also in terms of artistic contribution – they are the main models in the photographic installation.
Nehna wel Amar wel Jiran bears the fruit of the various relationships made by Collectif Kahraba on both a regional and international level.
This year the collective invites numerous artists and companies encountered throughout the years to present their projects.
It is time to offer spectators more varied artistic works with new thematics.
With our neighbors on the stairs, the artists that surround us, or those whose work has moved us, it is the art of meeting that generates and carries the cultural approach of this project.
Our capacity to together ask questions about a shared world will give birth to an artistic expression, the press release said.
More than ever before, Collectif Kahraba affirms that it is important to come together and share a moment of beauty through this event, as art and culture are peacemakers, it concluded.
