Syrian rescuers evacuated residential areas in Latakia province because of major forest fires, authorities said on Friday.

Hamas has said it is ready to start talks "immediately" on a proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza, where the civil defense agency said Israel's ongoing offensive killed more than 50 people.

U.S. President Donald Trump said Russia just wanted to "keep killing people" and hinted at sanctions  after Moscow launched its largest ever drone and missile attack on Ukraine in the three-year-old war.

Trump said Friday he was "very unhappy" about his telephone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, saying: "He wants to go all the way, just keep killing people, it's no good".

Syrian foreign minister Asaad al-Shaibani said on Friday that Damascus was willing to cooperate with Washington to reimplement the 1974 disengagement agreement with Israel.

In a statement following a phone call with his American counterpart Marco Rubio, Shaibani said he expressed Syria's "aspiration to cooperate with the United States to return to the 1974 disengagement agreement".

Russian leader Vladimir Putin stressed in a call with U.S. President Donald Trump that the Iran conflicts and others in the Middle East should be solved diplomatically.

"From the Russian side, the importance of settling all disputed issues, disagreements and conflictual situations be solved exclusively by politico-diplomatic means was stressed," Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters after the call.

Iran announced Thursday that it has reopened its airspace, including over Tehran, after closing it on June 13 due to the war with Israel, according to state media.

"Tehran's Mehrabad and Imam Khomeini international airports, as well as those in the north, east, west and south of the country, have been reopened and are ready to operate flights," the official IRNA news agency reported.

U.S. President Donald Trump said he had made no progress with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin towards a ceasefire in Ukraine after the two leaders spoke by phone on Thursday.

"No, I didn't make any progress with him at all," Trump told reporters when asked if he had moved closer towards a deal to end Russia's invasion, adding that he was "not happy" about the ongoing war.

U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday he wanted "safety" for people in Gaza, as he prepares to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu next week to push for a ceasefire.

"I want the people of Gaza to be safe more importantly," Trump told reporters when asked if he still wanted the US to take over the Palestinian territory as he announced in February.

Kyiv said on Friday that Russia had launched its largest overnight aerial attack on Ukraine over the more than three-year invasion.

A representative of Ukraine's air force Yuriy Ignat said the barrage of 550 drones and missiles was a record, adding "this is the largest number that the enemy has used in a single attack."

A series of Israeli airstrikes targeted Thursday areas in south Lebanon between Yahmor al-Shqif and Deir Seryan, and the outskirts of Zawtar el-Sharqiyeh and other areas in the Jezzine region.

The Israeli army said it struck "military sites, including weapons depots, military structures, and terrorist infrastructure" of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Their presence and activities in the area constitute, according to Israel, a "flagrant violation" of the ceasefire agreement, which came into effect on November 27 to end over a year of hostilities.
