'Star Trek' Actor Chris Pine Pleads Guilty to DUI

Hollywood actor Chris Pine, known for playing Captain Kirk in the "Star Trek" movies, pleaded guilty Monday in a New Zealand court to a charge of drunken driving.

The 33-year-old American was fined $93 New Zealand dollars ($79) and had his New Zealand driver's license suspended for six months during a hearing at the Ashburton District Court.

Chris Brown is facing a court hearing over his dismissal from rehab and whether he should be given additional penalties, which could include more time behind bars.

The Grammy-winning R&B singer spent the weekend in a Los Angeles jail after a judge ordered him to be arrested for violating the rules and regulations of his treatment. Court records did not elaborate on the reason for Brown's dismissal from the facility that was treating him for anger management, substance abuse and issues related to bipolar disorder.

China has announced plans to expand its cities and improve public services to support economic growth by allowing millions more rural residents to migrate to urban jobs.

The Cabinet plan issued Sunday calls for raising the share of China's population of almost 1.4 billion people living in cities to 60 percent from 53.7 percent now, a shift of about 90 million people.

Malnutrition Grows among Syrian Refugee Children in Lebanon

An estimated 10,000 Syrian children in Lebanon are likely to be suffering from malnutrition and has increased by 5.9 percent in 2013, according to a recent UNICEF-led survey as the U.N. agency said nearly 2,000 were at risk of dying if they weren't immediately treated.

Trapped in her northern Syrian village by fighting, Mervat watched her newborn baby progressively shrink. Her daughter's dark eyes seemed to grow bigger as her face grew more skeletal. Finally, Mervat escaped to neighboring Lebanon, and a nurse told her the girl was starving.

Activists said Saturday that the Kuwaiti commander of an al-Qaida-linked group was killed while fighting government troops and Hizbullah fighters inside Syria.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Abu Azzam al-Kuwaiti, a leader of the Nusra Front, was killed late Friday in fighting around the western town of Yabrud.

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton claimed pole position for Formula One's season-opening Australian Grand Prix in a rainy qualifying session Saturday, while four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel will start the race from 12th after being caught out by the wet conditions.
